Due to covid restrictions the team have to work especially hard. I have witnessed first hand how they have to deal with difficult clients but are always professional. Whether it's the barstaff, medical staff, cleaners, chefs, security or the staff working in the shops. All of them deliever a premium service and make you feel welcome. Thank you especially to Ian, Kristen, Rose Marie and Jill!

Can't wait to return!

We visited during difficult times with COVID-19 being prevalent in Afghanistan (in June 2020). We needed a well-deserved break but never thought it would be this good. We were met by Abdullah at the little Bamyan airport and taken straight to Highland Hotel. The view is stunning, overlooks the Buddha statues that everyone gets excited about. He organised the duration of our stay perfectly and really went over and above what you would expect anywhere. Our rooms were amazingly spacious, clean, comfy and like a home away from home. The cuisine is divine and well thought through and the staff are so professional yet super kind. We went on amazing hikes and he customized to our needs, mindful of different paces and tastes. We watched the magical sunrise from the rooftop every morning. He even took us shopping and helped out in our navigating our way around. Perfect host. We were honestly depressed to leave and will DEFINITELY return to the same place and look forward to staying there again. Thank you a million times! I couldn't recommend it enough. Abdullah's personal touch (and his team) makes it ever so special.

Amazing view, tasty food and the best hospitality from the hotel staff, specially the manager, Mr Salem. You will not regret staying at this hotel as it is very cozy and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff are happy to help with any request. Please note that Bamyan does not have electricity, so hotels usually use their own generators to generate electricity for limited hours in a day. Do not hold this against the hotels!

I didn't stay in the hotel but went there for dinner in the evening. The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly. The inside is beautiful. They have a place outside for dinner. A beautiful view of the city and over the city. Very relaxing. Away from the noise of the city. We had a kebab and grilled meat which was very nice and there was also a buffet. The food was really nice. I had shola and mantu. I was not to impressed by desserts too much. Security is high, very high indeed. Understandably. I hope peace is not too far away to lax that a bit.

Not the summer holiday I planned…

Food was impeccable, relished the chicken and beef burgers for lunch and dinner after a hard 8 days in the gym! A new meaning to “lives in the gym” The gardens were popular, a lot of people from around the world seem to hang out pre flight, and I must add, a great shuttle service to the terminal. Comfy beds were an option for some, but some just chose to sleep under the stars with little complaints. Didn’t quite make the swimming pool but took home a bathrobe and slippers to remind me of the comfier times. All and all, friendly staff, made life a little easier over the last few weeks. ? Went to this hotel for 2 nights and ended up staying for 4 nights. Rooms are normal, and good heater for cold air. Normal shower and tub. Best part is hotel security. When u enter there have armed security and they search everyone. Great staff and good breakfast inside the restaurant on the lobby. Rates per night are pretty good.

Very good choice if you are a real traveller

Everything was perfect. The good: the price is excellent, $ 60 includes transfers to and from the airport (which is about an hour away in the horrible traffic kabul). One night in a correct and clean room, hot water, WIFI in the room and meals, also collaborate with a very good cause, whether you are one of the few tourists who dare to visit Kabul (like me) should go here. Almost all speak English and are very friendly, I did a tour of the city to my measure and accompanied in it. Excellent.

Norban Qala Guest House

Warm and Cozy Place in the Most Beautiful Surroundings

Reviewed By rwyhuang

I stayed at Noorban Qala Guest House in Bamyan as part of a group trip with Let's Be Friends Afghanistan (since I paid for the trip in one fixed sum, I am not actually sure how much a room costs per night). Like most guesthouses in Afghanistan, the property is located within a compound, surrounded by gates and armed guards. It is a really short drive away from the city itself. It is a pretty large property with a garden, and many rooms. The staff on-site are really nice. The main manager can speak English, and the rest can understand pretty much what you are looking for via hand motions. Because it was winter time, every night, the staff would heat up the fireplaces in each room. Wi-fi works okay (even in the room), and the showers ran with hot water. The beds were also really cozy with extra thick blankets. Finally, the restaurant serves really food (notably mantu, and this dish of bread soaked in yogurt). If I ever come to Afghanistan and Bamyan, I definitely want to stay here again.
