Why, you may well ask is there a Pizza Hut in Banda Aceh? I have asked myself this question many times. Is this cultural imperialism, is this misguided representation of the best from the West? Was this the comfort food place to go to for expats working here after the 2004 Tsunami? Is it kind of cool for locals to be seen here? I have never been able to answer these questions. Yes I have eaten here with visitors who somehow felt safe with food that they recognized. The pizzas took so long to arrive that it was obvious that we had to wait for them to be imported. There was just so much wrong with this place. However, the staff were brilliantly attentive, had mastered the art of calming ravenous customers during the 'long wait' and were exquisitely polite. The method for settling bills in Pizza Hut Banda Aceh is mysterious and curiously convoluted. In the wash up everyone was deleriously satisfied.

My friend and I hung out on the beach at Joel's one Sunday evening, to get out of Banda Aceh for a few hours. We took in the picturesque scene, relaxed in the sea breeze and had a pizza. I can't speak for the rest of the menu but the margherita pizza was fine, not the best but ok. I've had MUCH worse food in Banda Aceh. We also each had coconut water straight from the coconut, which was so refreshing! Of course, we also had the jelly. Service for our meal was fast. It wasn'tsuperior service but it was adequate. We will definitely go back to spend another Sunday evening there. A point of note, when entering the property, expect to pay the locals, who seem to have set up a sentry position there to collect "entry fees".

Ristorante sito in una delle vie centrali di questa città ,tristemente famosa per essere stata distrutta dallo tsunami con tantissimi morti. Ora completamente ricostruita grazie ai finanziamenti internazionali e alla pace siglata dal governo centrale con gli indipendentisti della regione. Ristorante su più piani , molto essenziale nel suo arredamento. Noi abbiamo mangiato all'ultimo piano , in una atmosfera tranquilla e rilassata. La pizza è stata ottima , accompagnata da ottima birra locale. Personale gentile e prezzo onesto.
