Ramsgate Music Hall

Since opening in Oct 2013 Ramsgate Music Hall has built a solid reputation as one of the UK's finest small venues winning the NME's Britain's Best Small Venue award in 2015. Well ! What a pleasant and unexpected surprise this music venue is and it,s on my doorstep in Thanet too ! We booked tickets in advance at a bargain £7 each to see a good band that I,ve recently discovered called Port Erin who I saw on their website were playing at this venue . If you like Radiohead/ XTC / Talking Heads then you will like this band . Most of their tracks are over 5 minutes long and this 3 piece band played very well on the night . As this venue is small and intimate , I was able to talk with Rueben - Singer/ Guitarist with Port Erin , and we had a great chat afterwards and I think that he appreciated my positive comments about his bands music incl their lastest album . You can't do this at some bigger venues ! The staff ( particularly the barmaid ) were very friendly and chatty . The bar is upstairs from the stage and is very quirky but in an interesting pleasant way Downstairs is where the stage is and the capacity for this venue I understand is approx 130 people . There is what looks like a permanent sound mixing desk and the sound was good on the night if not just slightly too loud . Another feature that I like about this venue is that you can watch what's happening on the stage on a screen upstairs in the bar area . I liked that original idea which I,ve not seen before elsewhere . There also was a projection show going on behind the band as they were playing which you probably would,nt get at other small music venues of this size . This definitely enhanced the enjoyment of Port Erin's performance in my opinion . I noticed that this venue proudly boasts that it has won the best smallest music venue in Britain award ! Well done to the owners who have obviously invested their time and money into this excellent music venue and better still that it is in Thanet too ! So , come music lovers of all types of music and get yourself down to this great little Music venue . I look forward to returning again for a gig very soon !

Theatre Royal

A gem of a theatre in Margate town presenting an exciting mix of shows and events.

We attended a show compered by LUNATRAKTORS, an amusing folk duo supported by a number of female acts based around Power of Women and International Women’s Day. The show combined dance, song and music, poetry and of course old folk, otherwise known as Broken Folk by Lunatraktors themselves. The actual theatre oozes character and a long history dating back originally to the 18th century and is regularly seen to stage famous acts from London’s west end as well as local talent. A very cosy venue in a traditional style with balconies and boxes and magnificent decor. If anything could be improved it would be the external structure that needs a bit of TLC.

Always try to catch the new releases here rather than at a soulless chain - love the Granville, quirky postwar building nestled into the chalk of the East Cliff in Ramsgate, two great digital screens, has the latest movies, cheap snacks in the foyer & great sound. A proper little gem of a place.

Really impressed with Dreamland. For a fraction of price of the likes of Chessington, Legoland etc you get loads of fab rides really xlose together. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This place has been styled beautifully, has a lovely feel about it with attractive landscaping, awesome views from the rides and a stones throw from the beach for a cool down at the end of the day. Our family group of 11 aged 6 to 76 had a lovely day. Highly recommended. We might even get annual membership next year!

We had the most amazing night for our Masonic ladies festival....have to say we were a little apprehensive about the meal as have been to many dinner and dances over the years and the food has always been good so when we heard there was a new chef doing things completely different we didn’t know how it was going to be......but all I can say is from start to finish all the staff have been so helpful letting us attend the day before to get our table centre pieces ready and on the evening all looked fabulous....the meal was a great success and Julian greeted us before saying he looked forward to our feedback....so Julian all I can say is I look forward to eating your food again at the next one as it was superb....was even told by someone that the vegetarian option was the best they had eaten...your waiting staff were all very professional and extremely helpful too. So all I can say is thank you to everyone involved and I can highly recommend you for any dinner and dance function. Regards Sarah
