Friendly, helpful, reasonably priced
Reviewed By Andrew RWhen you take a break at the end of January you don't expect everything you'd get in-season. Vadvirág were brilliant from the start - first I had to slide the date back due to a work obligation: no problem. Then we were the only guests - the restaurant was opened for us. (No haut cuisine, but certainly well-cooked basic food.) Though we didn't always take it, there was always a cooked breakfast option. There was draught beer. The landlady's daughter showed us the family cellar, where the apricot pálinka was extremely good. There would have been a lovely view of the Danube through the skylight and the restaurant windows if there had not been fog... but the sun came on the last morning to wish us farewell, so we did get a sighting. Moreover, we left by doing a small detour up the hill to the Hilltop Hotel, where unlike our trip the previous morning the magnificent Danube panorama spread below us. One word of caution - Almás has sulphurt in the water, and if you're not used to the pong it's best to be armed to the teeth with bottled water so you can gargle without feeling like rotten eggs!

Dirty and without any nice expereince
Reviewed By Gerhard MI stayed in the Arpad hotel for two nights during my business trip. The only positive topic was having a bed for the night. In comparison to the situation a few years ago, situation was decreasing dramatically. The restaurant is closed and you cannot get an meal for lunch or dinner. Breakfast is available but on poor quality and everything is dirty in the breakfast room. Windows are so dirty that you even don't have a view outside. Furnitures on the balcony are crashed and dirty and are an affront to teh guests to show them. The room is dirty as well, the drawers and case is full of dust inside that i cannot take my clothes there. You should avoid this hotel and search for an alternativ.

Pleasantly surprised!
Reviewed By Minimum01Stayed here for a night with some friends on a x-country bike ride. Wasn't expecting much based on the reviews but we ended up enjoying it. The hotel staff was friendly and attentive and on duty 24 hours. They didn't speak much English, but with my basic Hungarian and a lot of pointing and smiling, we managed to understand each other. The room was basic, but look at the pictures and the price...you're not paying for luxury. It was clean, linen was fresh, wifi worked in the room. Breakfast was included and good...cooked to order eggs, good coffee, friendly staff. They had a separate, secure room for our bikes. I think it's a good value for the money.

Never try anything else but goulash soup
Reviewed By Dragoş CTried the romanian "mici" and they have nothing in common. These are just some longer meatballs. The "cow belly soup" is veeery bad. I spent 5 minutes taking almost a cup of oil and it was still very bad. In the end the conversion from forint to EUR ended up very bad, we paid more than 10 EUR more. The waiter was very unpolite, and not very helpful. In this way we ended up with 2 plates of "mici" + fries and one more plate of fries instead of 2 meatballs and a plate of fries. Even Cola is served directly in the glass, they use 2L bottles for that. Stop, have a goulash, go! Very dirty restaurant, never again.

Reviewed By peter_labauvePositiv ist die Lage in der Nähe der Autobahn sowie das problemlose Parken. Ansonsten fällt mir nichts positives ein. Die Bedienung ist eher gelangweilt, die Zimmer halten den Wettbewerb mit einer spartanischen Jugendherberge kaum stand und wenn als Frühstück zwei Würstchen mit Senf serviert werden und sonst nichts, passt das ins Bild. Wobei das Titelbild hier zwar sachlich richtig ist, genauso sieht es da aus.....aber leider habe ich bei zwei Besuchen nie soviel Licht in dem Raum gesehen, der gefühlt auch viel kleiner als auf dem Bild ist.
