Hotel Basen is in the center of Sisian. The origin of the name comes from the Western Armenia where Basen valley was. Father of the owner was the only survivor of the family from 1915 Armenian Genocide. The only way he could make his homeland revive was restoration of the image through... hotel Basen. It is a hotel of 5 units three of which are newly renovated. There 23 rooms available. Adjacent to the hotel, there is a cosy restaurant where our guests can taste traditional Armenian seasonal cuisine. Freshly baked lavash and sound of Armenian music are a nice supplement for the real experience of Armenian culture.

Reviewed By joelgillinIt's been some time since I experienced Hotel Basen, but it's definitely the best place in Sisian. A great combination of authentic Armenian hospitality with modern, comfortable facilities. Hasmik goes out of her way to give her guests the best experience possible.

Great guesthouse and tour to Ughtasar
Reviewed By StillimageVery beautiful place in the countryside outside the city. Clean and spacious, well equipped kitchen and common area, good breakfast. The host is very friendly and spend a lot of time with us and organise fantastic tour to Ughtasar, really not to be missed. Unfortunately, because they have just opened a bar in Sisian, they don't cook dinner at the guesthouse anymore, a necessary thing for a guesthouse outside town. You need a car to move freely or you depend on the owner. A little bit expensive but really a great staying.

Friendly and clean
Reviewed By Lea PThe lady who runs the whotel speaks English and is friendly and helpful. The (fish)dinner was excellent, and so was the breakfast. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Wifi works in some rooms. The hotel is in the center of the town.

Great and helpful place
Reviewed By BangkokLoftKarine is a great host. With perfect English and tons of enthusiasm she welcomes you warmly and provides excellent information about he area. She is working hard to build Sisian as a good tourist base....which it is. The B&B is sparkling clean and comfortable and very efficiently run. The family have a nice garden and you are invited to pick fruit if you wish. Breakfast is nice and laundry service available fir 3,000 dram if you ask. We also had an evening meal at 8,000 for two and ate another night in town in the small restaurant by the bridge at a good price. Sisian is a little run down as a town but the area has tons to offer. The absolute highlight of the trip was to the Petroglyphs with a very good English speaking driver. Stunning scenery. Don’t try this on your own. Even with a 4x4 you will struggle. Very much recommended.
