The green embankments, surrounding our park are the remains of a fortress, Farjestadens Skans. You are indeed in "the middle of history", here at Hotel Skansen. The fortress is from the early 1600's and was then called "Krakeskars Skans". It probably played an important part at the time of the Danish invasion 1611. Around 1700 a district-courthouse was constructed inside the fortress. The buildings you see today were built 1811, and while they originally served as a courthouse, they have since 1901 been a hotel. We will do our very best to make your stay comfortable and joyful. Is anything missing or is it something you desire? Please let us know - We will do our best to fulfil your wishes. The Hotel Hotel Skansen have 79 rooms - 24 double rooms in "Tingshuset" including 6 suites with Jacuzzi, and 55 rooms in the main building, where 36 of them are brand new and ready to stay in from may 2015. All rooms with satellite TV and telephone. A modern hotel with a personal atmosphere and old charm. Family owned and managed. The Restaurant Dining rooms for up to 500 persons and a beautiful summer veranda. SPA In "Tingshuset" you find a relaxation area with indoor pool, Jacuzzi and sauna. We have 6 beautiful rooms for spa treatments and an exercise room in the basement. Location Centrally located in Farjestaden, close to the Oland bridge, with just 300 meters to the nearest beach, close to the shopping centre and in the middle of the island of Oland.

A warm welcome to us at Eksgarden. Eksgarden hotel, B&B and restaurant is situated in Gardby on Oland's beautiful east coast and close to most of the things Oland has to offer. Borgholm, Farjestaden, Kalmar, golf courses, beautiful beaches, the countryside and a culture experiences within easy reach giving plenty of opportunities for you to choose what you wish to experience and to discover.
Not worth the room rate but great food
Reviewed By Jens HWe paid good money in order to stay in a picturesque atmosphere where we expected good quality of rooms and service but were rather disappointed. The rating of the hotel has probably been inflated by the restaurant part of the establishment where it is possible to enjoy superb food. Check in is during the front desk opening hours - 15-18. So no obvious way to ask for help during other times if there would be a problem. We had complaints to the cleaning which was of poor standard but didn’t know how to forward them. Rooms are fine but nothing special. 90% appears to be IKEA and not refurbished in a while. You can rent bikes but it’s not possible to take smaller children with you. Don’t stay here when it is hot. Our family of 2 adults and a two year-old stayed three nights in July-August, an unusually hot and humid week. We almost couldn’t sleep and our boy suffered heat rash. Yes, it is understandable that the hotel of this size can’t provide ac in a location like this - it is mostly 10 degrees colder in the summer - but some air circulation would be helpful. On the positive side you can sit outside in the warm evening and chat in a very nice environment. Insect repellent is recommended. The breakfast was very tasty, quite healthy and likely very Scandinavian. The staff was probably mostly too busy and didn’t seem to have time to offer a smile or to fill up the breakfast buffet too fast.

Multifarious food for breakfast inclusive bacon, kötbullar, sausage, scrambled egg, cheese, lunchmeat, ... ? Of course I can reccomand this hotel and it has a perfect location at the harbour

Great for the kids
Reviewed By TPostMinigolf, lots of grass to play on, salt water pool, beaches nearby. Park your car next to your cabin - our cabin was well-maintaned and spacious. It was a very family-friendly place to stay, and I'm glad we did. Our family of 5 chose a Vindö cabin, and we're very glad we did. Two things that surprised us: - Lots of small green flying bugs near the cabins. We were lucky not to have them too close to ours, though. - Färjestaden was a smaller town than imagined, with no real town centre. Still a few restaurants etc to choose from, and a mall closer to the bridge, so no real worries.

What really struck was the food, a salmon buffet with salmon that tasted like it just came of a oak fire. Homemade raspberry ice cream. I do not usually take desserts, but this was to die for. Can not wait for the braai tomorrow.

Idyllic bed & breakfast on the quiet and remote south-east coast of Öland. Perfect place for exploring the island with less than 30 minutes to Kalmar and all the nature and hiking points just outside the door. One of the islands most popular beaches is less than 3 kilometers away. This is the place if you like staying a bit outside the hectic, more touristic areas and appreciate a coffee or a glass of wine in the garden, reading a book and listening to the silence. Simple but well taken care of place for the non-stressed people. Welcome!
