Great Staff

Reviewed By Yorkflyer

On first arrival we were a little underwhelmed as the hotel needs a lot of TLC. However the longer we stayed the more relaxed we became which was mainly due to the excellent service and friendliness of the staff. Particular mention must go to Pamela, Cecilia, Adanna (pool bar), and Marvin. On the debit side the housekeeping staff need better training/management as we were constantly left without towels/tissues/tea bags and toilet rolls. It’s not difficult to put right. It would also appear that Tuna is the only fish available in the Caribbean as it was constantly the “Catch of the Day” and also a feature at breakfast. Would we recommend? Yes if you can put up with the minor niggles. Tip: Book a suite or ask for an upgrade, the extra space is worth the money.

A great value, friendly hotel

Reviewed By MojitoGirl_8

We stayed here for a week on a British Airways All Inclusive holiday package. We had a lovely relaxing time and would not hesitate recommending the hotel. The grounds are beautifully kept, the pools were very clean, there were plenty of sun beds around the 2 pools. Our room was a standard room with a garden view, maybe a little dated, but again very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bar area was very nice with a lovely outdoor seating area that overlooked the sea. The barmen (Robbie and Tenis) were very courteous and worked very hard and we were always served quickly. Lunches were served in the bar area and had a good choice of burgers, chicken, salad etc. Breakfast and lunch were served in the pleasant restaurant, there wasn’t the huge choice of dishes that you may have in a large All Inclusive hotel, but the food was always tasty and plentiful. The waiting staff were very attentive. We did turtle watching (which was incredible, we saw a turtle laying her eggs)!and the Cool Runnings boat trip from the hotel. Both were excellent value 150 TT per person. There is a small beach with 3 cabanas accessible from the hotel, but it’s not advisable to swim there due to the strong currents. Store bay beach is a 10 minute amble away where you can hire sun beds and swim. There is a life guard on the beach. All in all we had a great holiday and would definitely like to return one day

Disappointing and frustrating

Reservations were booked and paid for in advance. On reaching the hotel we were informed that vaccination cards (or proof of) was required plus our toddler is to undergo a PCR Test. This information was not relayed to us prior to booking, not via email confirmations or phone calls, which were both engaged. If we were privy to this information we would not have booked simply to avoid subjecting our toddler to a PCR Test for a hotel stay. The manager at the time, Marita Huggins, took no responsibility for their lack of information prior to this. On requesting our full refund, we were told that the payment could not be found on their system. After making calls to the bank to confirm, the receptionist notified that they found our payment. No assistance was offered otherwise. Booking a new hotel at the last minute proved to be a challenge.

Is it Worth It?

Reviewed By nellah477

As you drive through the landscaped and manicured grounds, enter the open, airy reception area, you are greeted by the pristine waters of the Caribbean Sea and it is evident that this property was once majestic. The location cannot be beat, you can walk from the airport. The private beach is stunning, calm, clear and there are many tropical fish to see near the rocks. This is the only thing that draws me here. The bones of the property are quite beautiful and the attention to detail is admired but it is past the point of having old Caribbean charm. It is so dated it feels like a museum and has a signature old musty smell. It is relatively clean but the age cannot be hidden especially in the bathrooms which are unpleasant. The room was poorly lit with a shaky bed, warped mattress and two worn out pillows. The ceilings on the second floor are very low compared to the ground floor rooms. The foul smell in the corridor by the shops need to be addressed. Hotel staff customer service is average, not at international standard. Tamara’s servers are unprofessional and appear irritated. Food was subpar. Sad to see what was a glorious hotel fall into disrepair. Not sure if I would spend another night there or if it’s worth the price. There’s an eerie feeling as there’s hardly any guests and you can see and feel the hotel withering away. Would be delighted to return if it was renovated.

7 Night Quarantne Stay

Reviewed By arvindramoutar

I was in a state of panic when I initially got booked at the Cascadia, since I have not read any recent reviews about quarantining at the hotel and the reviews from a couple of years back were not very gratifying. So, I decided to take my chances and sacrifice myself for the sake of mankind. Upon arrival, I was greeted by reception, instructions about my 7 nights of quarantine were then relayed and my meal preferences noted. The phone in my room was not functional, so my primary form of communication to the front desk was via WhatsApp, which worked seamlessly. Pros: The rooms were clean, comfortable, and extremely spacious, with a decent size balcony that you would appreciate since you are not allowed to leave the room at any time. If you are lucky to get a room facing the front of the hotel, you’ll be able to see visitors in the car park. I think these rooms also provide a better view than the ones located at the back. Room amenities are very basic, cable TV and a refrigerator. WiFi is good, no issues with signal or speed on the 2nd floor where I stayed. The food is of excellent quality, with a nice mix of local cuisine, breakfast, lunch, and dinner all delivered to your room at the designated times. The staff was amazing, they went over and beyond to help make your stay as comfortable as possible. I had no snacks since I arrived straight from the airport, they were kind enough to out and purchase some snacks at the nearby mini-mart as per my request. If I needed anything additional or had any query, I just shoot a message to Ravi and it was all taken care of. Cons: Although comfortable enough, the room furnishings were noticeably aging, the closets, mattress, woodwork, carpet, and areas of the bathroom could all do with an upgrade. With that being said, I think there is ongoing work at the hotel, as I saw balcony railings being repainted. So maybe upgrading the rooms are also part of their plans. There were no options for choice of meals, it’s basically whatever you told them upon arrival, “I eat anything except beef and have no allergies”, that’s what they work with. It would be nice to have the option to choose between 2 or 3 different meals for lunch and dinner or have at least one healthy option available. Perhaps it was possible to have something different, but I never tried making that request. To summarize, It’s not Hyatt or Hilton, so don’t come here with that expectation. But if you want great individualized service, a comfortable and spacious room, with the option to go out and get some fresh mountain air from the privacy of your balcony, then the Cascadia Hotel is perfect.

This business steals from their employees

Reviewed By IRMA C

The service was good and the food was good but the servings are entirely too small for the price. But when my check arrived and a service charge was added I was floored. When I asked my server about it because I had already paid her a tip I was informed that the wait staff does not get this money. This absolute theft from their employees should not be tolerated. In this day and time where it is so hard to find good employees this restaurant and the Grafton Beach Resort should be ashamed for being the thieves that they are! I will never spend money here again and will let everyone I know to stay away! ???
