The Village Boutique & Spa

Room was very clean and comfortable but much smaller than seen on photos. Cleaning trolley on the 2nd floor was kind of an eyesore left in the corridor. Massages were as if masseur was caressing the skin and not able to adress the sore points. Breakfast was great and fresh. Outside pool too small and overcrowded yet the pool area was very peaceful and relaxing.

Life changing experience

Me and my partner spent 9 Nights at Chapel 5 during our 10 day holiday in Malta. Once we had arrived at the Chapel 5 we was greeted by the friendly Malcolm who made us feel very welcome and at home, he offered us a drink and we had a talk about some of the places we could visit during our stay. Malcolm showed us around the building - which was absolutely stunning and finally to our room - also stunning, we had a terrace overlooking the outside pool, a huge walk in shower fit for two people and a big queen size bed, which I must say was extremely comfortable - no restless nights for us. The breakfast every morning was beautiful, a nice mixture of fruits, cheeses, meats, freshly baked breads, croissants and muffins along with orange juice and either tea or coffee. Malcolm, Alex and Marie were all extremely pleasant to talk to, very friendly and all very helpful if needing any advise while we was on our stay. Overall Chapel 5 has had a massive impact on our lifestyles for the better! And I would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking to have a nice relaxing holiday in Malta. We plan on visiting again in the future as it was an absolutely beautiful experience and put a massive smile on both of our faces. Thanks again to the hosts at Chapel 5 Suites - you have all been AMAZING! Jay and Crystal.

Selmunett

'Selmunett' is a charming family run luxury Homestay property located on the edge of the village of Naxxar, which is more or less in the centre of the island. We have two en-suite bedrooms and garden for the use of guests. The sea at St Paul's bay is a mere ten-minute car drive away. The capital Valetta is 15 minutes away; the airport and golf course 20 minutes away. We strongly recommend that you hire a car for your time in Malta. We would be happy to arrange this for you when you place your booking with us. If you do, and you stay for 7 nights and over we will offer you Complimentary one way airport transfer Airport - Selmunett and the use of a GPS navigation system to help you get yourselves around the island. The bus service in Malta is smooth with fully air-conditioned and modern buses with many routes round the Island. Our local bus stop is a mere three minutes from the house. Fitness enthusiasts, during the cooler weather, might like to consider bicycles, which again we can arrange. Rentals come complete with helmets, front and back lights and a locking system. Whilst we do not provide evening meals, we have a full list of recommended Restaurants that are in walking distance and of course others that are further a field and require transportation to get there. Apart from this we do have a Restaurant guide in each room so guests may wish to select their own, pubs and bars that we recommend listed here on our site. WiFi is available throughout and in the event that guests require the use of computers in order to re-confirm flights and print boarding passes, this can be done with pleasure. Each of our rooms have iPhone/iPod docking systems.

Poor value and penny pinching attitude!

Reviewed By Curiosity20826910353

Stayed for four nights with my husband. Allocated room appeared fine on arrival, however the room receives no sunshine as stuck in a corner behind trees and as a consequence the room is really damp and very cold at night. We tried to heat the room via the air con, but that was ineffective. Similarly the bathroom is cold. There is a small electric fan heater on the wall, but that trips after 1 minute, so pretty useless. Towels remained damp all day and were not changed throughout our four day stay. We are use to having a selection for breakfast, but the first day we were served a small bowl of mixed fruit, a tablespoon of yogurt and a few slices of toast with marmalade or jam and a pot of coffee. Roger brought out two glasses of orange juice filled with ice and announced to my husband that if he filled the glasses with ice he didn’t have to give the guests quite so much orange! I call this penny pinching! The second day I requested cornflakes and a new box was brought out, so I think it’s up to guests to be explicit about what they expect when they arrive - or the idea of a continental breakfast may differ to what your expecting. On the second day Roger advised us he had turned the electric off for heating the water and was now reliant on solar heating. On our third day we got up to cold water, when my husband complained Roger said well some people insist on having a shower at night. Surely most people when they have been on the beach all day want a shower before they go out for dinner! Not at all impressed with Homestay, the place and service may have been good in the past, but with all the competition I think they need to up their game. I would not recommend as I think it’s poor value for money and fails to meet even basic standards.

Loggia Mariposa - Boutique Townhouse

Set in the historical centre of the old town of Naxxar, Loggia Mariposas is a family run Bed and Breakfast Boutique Town House. Built in the early 16th century this building is tucked into one of the cul-de-sac's this old part of town is famous for. We offer a number of en-suite bedrooms in old world surroundings, which include exposed limestone walls and wooden beams and antique furniture.

A Hidden Gem.

Reviewed By Esskay16

We had a lovely stay at the Loggia Mariposa. It’s set in a beautiful, quiet road in one of the oldest parts of the town. It’s a hidden gem, beautifully furnished and decorated. Our room was fairly small but it had everything we needed for our stay. Breakfasts were delicious, with homemade pastries, bread, yogurt, cheese and meats available. Josef and Peter were delightful hosts, with a wealth of information about the island. There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance of the loggia. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but we saw it as part of the charm of such an old part of the town, there is a free public car park a few minutes walk away. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Naxxar we would definitely recommend it!

Bad

Reviewed By Samantha F

Disappointed is an understatement, this hotel is so run down. The greeting on arrival was very strange and rude, just handing us a key and pointing us in the general direction. The blinds in our room were broken, and there were people sunbathing half naked right outside our room window (the length of the wall) so we had to have the thick dusty curtains closed for privacy. I called the owner to voice my concern and he just said "oh yes the blinds have been broken for months, just keep the curtain closed". The pillows were old and rock hard and when I asked whether they had any others I was rudely told that is it, the owner nor the lady who poorly greeted us seemed to care. The sun loungers were in need of throwing away and replacing, really tatty and stained. There was no filter pump running at any point in the swimming pool, the pool was in need of a good clean. I developed an ear infection and it seemed too much of a coincidence. Breakfast was cheap looking sliced meats and cheese. I am a dog lover, and have no problem with animals being around, but was sad to see a dog with bad sores on his back leg, left to roam around laying on sun loungers meant for guests. My partner witnessed the dog urinating up a sun lounger. If we were booked for more than 2 nights we would have just walked out the day we arrived. I never leave bad reviews but wouldn't want anyone else to go through the same disappointment. We paid €110 for 2 nights, I've stayed in better hostels for €25 a night.
