8 Free Things to do in Tigre That You Shouldn't Miss

October 12, 2021 Margarita Chappel

Day-trip distance from Buenos Aires, the Tigre River Delta offers porteños (Buenos Aires residents) and tourists alike a playground for everything from horseback riding and hiking to fishing and swimming. Comprised of hundreds of tiny islands, the Tigre is about 20 miles northeast of Buenos Aires and is reachable from the city by trains, then by boat from the train station. While the main attraction here is the delta itself (formed where five rivers come together), you’ll also find a Naval Museum, restaurants and playgrounds for kids. Several tour companies offer day-trip excursions to the Tigre River Delta—but visitors also can book stays in area bed & breakfasts and adventure lodges.

Paseo Victorica

Tigre is about 45 mins north of Buenos Aires and an incredibly beautiful town away from the busy and crowded city. We came to kayak the delta for the day, stroll along the Lujan river, and have a nice lunch. We did all the above. We parked along Calle Victorica to stroll the walkway and watch boats before we kayaked ourselves. The weather was beautiful, as was the flora, bridges, parks, and views of the river. On one end you can find a naval museum, and the other restaurants and ice cream spots. Beautiful part of Tigre!

This is really a large collection of small retail outlets next to the river, offering for sale a wide range of food, souvenirs and drinks and you should allow two hours to see it all. I found plenty to look at and but and my trip was rewarding
