May 30, 2023 Velvet Champine

The Māori call Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau — a maiden desired by 100 lovers, and a valuable territory fought over for centuries for its fertile land and natural harbors on the Pacific Ocean (to the east) and Tasman Sea (to the west). Today, it’s New Zealand’s largest city: A vibrant and diverse place where nature and urban life go hand-in- hand, with 48 volcanic cones, more than 50 islands, and 29,000 km of coastline and beaches just minutes away from the arts and shopping of the central city.

Pakiri Winter Escape

Had another wonderful stay in a beach side chalet. This time in late May. No matter what time of year you stay here the view is always spectacular and the light at this time of year is beautiful. The chalet was really warm dispute some nasty cold weather arriving. Jordan, Tom and Anne went out of their way as usual to ensure we had a brilliant holiday. They are the most amazingly helpful and friendly team. Pakiri really is one of the most beautiful beaches and estuaries in NZ.

Primo location right on the beach!

We absolutely loved this spot. The waterfront powered sites are amazing with a view of both Takapuna beach and Rangitoto Island. It’s also very close to lots of eats in Takapuna. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and kept us in mind when a waterfront spot became available. Would highly recommend this holiday park!

Orewa Beach Holiday Park

Holiday Review of our Holiday at Orewa Campground

Reviewed By marysM6864JE

I have been coming to the Orewa Camp ground for the past 6 years. When I first started coming It was a privately owned site. It was absolutely beautiful. Why:? * Staff managing the office were always helpful, polite and genuinely interested if there was a concern * The cabins, both standard and Deluxe were always beautifully clean. * The cleaning staff would stop by and ask if there was any thing I needed, towels, tea towels * When I stayed in a standard cabin ( which was only once ) the toilet and shower block were always sparkling clean. I believe that the camp site is now owned by Auckland City Council. i have just had spent 4 nights in a Deluxe cabin and was dreadfully disappointed with the cabin and the camp site. Why ? * We arrived 10 minutes early , 10 to 2 to take possession of the cabin. our reception at the desk was met with an extremely brisk response, " it is not 2 ' o' clock ' Give me strength!! I thought.. * We returned to the office at 10 past 2 to pick up the key. Great we were ready to start our beach holiday. The key we were given had no. 15 on it,, but cabin 15 was already occupied!!! So , back to the office . A different office manager convinced us that it was still being cleaned !! Oh no we said there is family there. Back to the office!! He laughed and said oh I have given you the wrong key. !!!! * Finally got inside and unpacked. * We had to follow The Rules. On leaving strip beds and put sheets in one bag, towels in another.!! Are the staff unable to strip the beds? * Dishes time very little dish wash liquid so had to chase around back to get some more. * When my daughter lifted the pillow on the divan bed, horrors a big clump, of human hair !!!! * We used the frying pan, but nothing to clean it, no scrub pad . Not sure if I will be back sadly. Although I really love the beach and the cafe's.

Idyllic holiday for Nature lovers

Switching off and escaping from the city was all I needed and found, at Parohe. The retreat offered exactly what I enjoy most - yoga, walking in the native bush, fresh healthy food, and a chance to let go of my every-day responsibilities. There's plenty of privacy if that's what you're after and equally the opportunity to connect with people when you want to...a great balance.

My partner and I couldn’t even stay one night it was disgusting

Reviewed By Katest1990

My partner and I arrived and the two bedroom apartment that we had booked was small, with one bedroom and a single bed in the lounge, bedroom had no door, we were given a heater that didn’t even work. The tap in the kitchen didn’t work well at all, the toilet was not cleaned from the last guest and the breaking point for us was getting bitten by BED BUGS at 12 am, so had to find another hotel.
