What a pleasant surprise! A hidden treasure

The four of us loved this place. Tucked into a hillside with a beautiful pool and outside bar as well as many sitting areas under the trees to escape the hot summer sun. Our rooms were very nice and clean. The restaurant is very cute and eclectic and the food marvellous. Each of us got a different entree and all were delicious. We had just one night here, but we all agreed we could have stayed another night if we didn’t have a plane to catch. I would highly recommend you consider a stay here. It’s also just 3 miles from the town of Maipo which is a nice little place to have a cervesa.

Last minute stay at the guest house

Reviewed By JuliaMTA

Mauricio (the owner) was phenomenal!!!! I had to make a last minute booking at 9pm the day of. When I have arrived at Mauricio's guest house he was already waiting for me at the door. He has kindly helped me with parking my vehicle and was very polite and respectful, as I was a female solo traveler. I also happened to be the only guest staying at his premises that night and felt completely safe. The room was very clean, and he had breakfast ready for me in the morning. Mauricio's actual home where he lives is right next to the guest house, and there is an intercom phone to ring him if you need something. Breakfast was simple (cheese, ham, juice, hot beverage, jam cookies and bread) but plentiful! I did not leave that place hungry! Would definitely come back again and/or recommend staying here. Also, i think it's important to mention that this establishment has more of a guest house vibe, not a hostel. Also, this establishment has more of a guest house feel, versus a true hostel.

We are an ecologically oriented, nature loving people thus we attempted to blend into the mountainous environment without disturbing the landscape. We have built our site with materials native to the area; we have used stones from our rivers, wood from our forests, mud from the area and bricks made by local artisans. We believe in sustainable, renewable sources of energy, thus we heat our water with solar energy and most of our electricity is produced by wind power. We recycle as much as possible and make compost with our food scraps to fertilize our gardens or use it to feed our chickens and ducks. Our accommodations include 9 rooms all of which have a private bath and deck. We are able to offer rooms with a queen size bed and others with two full size beds. All of the rooms have a futon bed for additional guests. We offer a nutritious continental breakfast at no additional cost. Also available are some fee based services: massage therapy, paragliding, trekking, horseback riding and rafting. As part of the services included in the price we offer access to the swimming pool, Jacuzzi, game rooms, home theater, barbecue grills, a large patio by the swimming pool, bikes, pool and ping-pong tables and the ability to cook your own meals using a large kitchen fully equipped. Check in is between 15 at 20 pm- Check out is at 12 noon We are confident that you will enjoy our accommodations and the activities in the area.

A weekend to relax

Reviewed By AndresL1971

We stayed at Carlito´s last weekend because we needed to relax, so we called spontaneously and got the last room. I don´t want to get too much into how it is, because since our last stay almost everything stayed the same, with one exception, which made a huge difference: They changed the system regarding the meals, which, at least for us, was the best thing that they could have done! To explain myself, with the old system they managed everything in a strict BnB-modality; they offered a great breakfast, but lunch and dinner was up to you, which meant you had two options: Cooking yourself in the kitchenette they had for guests or leave and look for restaurants (which meant driving, waiting, making reservations, etc.) Now, they removed the kitchenette and are offering instead the possibility of a Menu for Lunch and/or Dinner. The price is pretty fair, the quality and the presentation is really good and it consists of entry, main plate, dessert, salads, beverages (soft drinks and wine) and, which is amazing, from my point of view, you can repeat yourself. So, for us, it´s an amazing change, because we don´t need to leave anymore to have lunch or dinner, which implies staying there the whole time, being able to really relax, and enjoy wine to the meals without having to be afraid because in Chile there´s a zero tolerance policy regarding alcohol and driving. If we previously recommended it with the “but” of needing to cook or go outside, now we recommend it without any restrictions at all. Overcharging Foreign Guests

Reviewed By BarryD935

I stayed here with my wife several weeks ago. The issue I encountered was on check-out; despite providing my Irish Passport and Immigration Papers on check-in, and having very little Spanish, I was still “mistakenly” charged the extra 19% Chilean IVA tax. My wife is also a native Spanish speaker and she confirmed with the staff member on check-in that we would not be subject to this tax. However, come the time to settle our bill, we had the 19% extra tax added on for good measure. Also, on check-out we were presented with a bill in Chilean Pesos and not US dollars as I had requested for my Irish bank account (I have never encountered this in any other hotel in Chile). Again, this was confusing and only for my wife been able to query this fully in Spanish, we would have been none the wiser! After a number of weeks, I was refunded the excess amount, however when bank charges and unfavourable exchange rates are added in, I lost a significant amount of money due to this “error”. I still to this day, cannot understand how the hotel could make this mistake, so I urge a strong word of caution to other foreign travellers to this hotel, make sure you are not erroneously charged the IVA on check-out. Do not swipe your bank card until you have fully verified this. You will probably need to be able to speak Spanish fluently to query this fully.

Very welcoming but with some thing to work on

The cabin and the “private tinaja” were very nice and confortable. Some of the issues were around the fact that they did not have a recepction so the didnt allow us to wait inside the property for more than two hours before checkin and after checking time our room was not ready jet (waited around an hour). The room lack some courtins so ligth went in very early in the morning. At the back garden there was not enough light (lamps) to properly ilumate the “tinaje” when using at night.
