Went on our second trip led by Ben Cubbage from Elevated Trips for a good reason, Ben and his crew know their way around western China and they know know to serve their clients well. Our tour guide Sangye was very attentive and informative at every step and every stop along our journey through the Silk Road in Gansu and Qinghai. Ben has lived in western China for over a decade and works with locals to provide authentic experiences. This time around we discovered the holy Qinghai Lake, the rainbow mountains, hanging monastery, hiked snowy mountains, saw the western end of the Great Wall and rode camels on the Gobi desert. This trip has it all. We pack in a huge amount of diversity in just 5 days. Camping under the stars on top of a 3,500 meter sandstone cliff. Hiking through a miniature Grand Canyon to the top of a Buddhist hermitage where monks and nuns meditate without speaking for years. And we finish it off with the largest monastery in Qinghai Province, Rebkong Longwu monastery, famous for its hand painted Tibetan Thangkas.

A wonderful journey along the Silk Road in Xinjiang. We did the 13-day South Xinjiang Tour from Kashgar to Urumqi. Before booking, Lesley gave us first-class advice and information about the numerous options in Xinjiang. The guide/driver was excellent and really knowledgeable about all the places we visited along the route (3,000+km). He smoothed the way with all the bureaucracy and really made the travelling enjoyable. All in all, we saw so many beautiful diverse things in Xinjiang and had a really amazing holiday. Could not have asked for more from Silk Road Travel.
