Very dull

Reviewed By Peter L

The room was a good size but very dull. This hotel is quite strange as it’s built at different level and is more than one building. The bathroom was fine but not enough room for two people to have wash bags. The breakfast was poor compare to other places.

Rooms and Breakfast Casa Balin

In an oasis of peace and good humor arises Casa Balin. Surrounded by olive trees and fruit trees, sea view rooms with private bathroom, equipped with every comfort, air conditioning, SWIMMING POOL, free wi-fi. A 10 minute walk from the center of Recco gastronomic capital famous for the focaccia col formaggio.

Beautiful views

We spent 3 nights enjoying incredible views and kind hospitality at Casa Balin. Tastefully decorated spotlessly clean comfy beds and a hot shower. And more! Home baked goodies for breakfast. There is a convenient honesty bar. Valter was very careful to follow Covid rules and we felt very safe. The road up to the house is narrow. You have to follow Valter’s instructions as gps won’t take you there so I wouldn’t do this for the first time at night. After you’ve done it then it’s fine.

Hotel Elena

Perfect location in the center of the beautiful Recco, the Hotel Elena enjoys an ideal setting nearby Portofino, Genoa and Cinque Terre. The Hotel Elena presents itself with an elegant Villa from which you can admire directly the sea. The hotel has been completely renewed in order to satisfy the most demanding guest without loosing the friendly atmosphere. Nearby the Elena guests can easily have access to Golf Course, Tennis Club, Imbarcadero for boats and ferries, Tourist Port with charter, Diving Centre and several bathing establishments. The hotel offers access to the private beach (from June 5 till to September 30) equipped with umbrellas and chairs and for which is required a supplement of 15 euros per day for two person. BREAKFAST: The Buffet breakfast is served from 7,30 am to 10,00 am. In summer you can have breakfast on the terrace where a Buffet is made of tasteful things - especially the typical "focaccia alla Genovese", cakes, pastries and freshly baked croissants prepared daily by the famous pastry Chef Pâtissiers Moltedo . Possibility to request a room service even for breakfast with a supplement of 5.00 euros.

Good hotel in a great position

Reviewed By lamusi

Hotel Elena is a good option for one night in Recco, especially for those aiming to spend some time later in San Fruttuoso. The location is excellent, with a view (enjoyed by all rooms, I think) on the harbor and on the Portofino mount and park, western side. The rooms are fine, maybe not renovated too recently but with a working wifi, A/C, minifridge, thus the basic amenities. Curiously there is no breakfast due to the pandemic situation, which is an issue I found only in this hotel so far (getting an agreement with a nearby cafe could be a nice touch). There are stairs connecting the hotel with the sea promenade and parking is available (for a fee), even though it can be found for free in the "corso Garibaldi" (very pompous name for a very narrow dead end road) nearby. A bit expensive but this is Liguria. Recommended for a short stay, no more.

Very accommodating

Reviewed By Jovifd

We hadn’t booked and they kindly opened up for us late in the evening. Friendly and helpful hosts. Rather noisy due to the train which ran regularly just past the garden area. Dated but clean. Expensive for what it was (€80) They do serve a good breakfast with plenty of choice.

Angelo and Monica are wonderful hosts, but even better people! They treated us like family for our entire stay! Monica is a very polished chef, skilled at all of the local specialties which she has perfected. Her focaccia al formaggio may be the best in the whole Italian Riviera! Angelo's liquors are the perfect way to end any Italian meal! The farm and villas are breathtaking! Grazie Mille Monica & Angelo!
