I was visiting Pender Island on my own and really wanted a chance to do some kayaking. Jay very graciously arranged for me to be able to do a four hour kayak trip, even though their normal policy requires a minimum of two people to set up a trip. So I got to have my tour guide, Kyle, all to myself for four delightful hours. Kyle was entertaining, engaging and very knowledgeable about the sea life we encountered. I very much enjoyed his company and felt quite safe under his expertise. Also really liked the kayak I used. Very comfortable and a very good fit for someone of my size and kayaking experience.

Pender Islanders are so proud of their winery! Sea Star Estate has done a terrific job of providing visitors with award winning, delicious wine choices, showcasing local artists and artisans, and creating a setting in which to enjoy both. Warm welcomes and a good range of quality wines to taste. We love taking a glass (or two) outdoors and admiring the view. Don't buy more than a case of your favourite though. Leave enough for islanders! If there on a weekend, you're in luck because from 11-3 the Cafe at Large serves up delicious gourmet treats. Follow your nose to the mobile kitchen outside by the tables.

Pender Island Golf & Country Club

One of B.C.’s most beautiful 9 hole public golf courses. This Gulf Island Jewel offers four elevated tee boxes and affords expansive views of the challenging golf shots that lie ahead. The course is deceptively challenging, with 6 separate tees for the back nine, yet it is a great recreation destination course for all handicappers.

This beautiful course accommodates all levels. From the front tees it is a pleasant game;the back tees offer sufficient challenge for a pro. The exceptional scenery and lack of crowds rushing play make this a favourite. Modest green fees are a pleasant surprise.

Twin Island Cider Tasting Room

Reviewed By GPaCalgary - Calgary

We arrived on Pender Island and the first day there we heard that this place had opened, so we took our guests there for a tasting. The tasting fee included four or five samples of Cider with various drynesses. These are high quality ciders made from local apples. This is a great added tourism feature for this Island so we hope that the Cidery is successful.

Pender Islands Museum

Reviewed By movingmaven - Gulf Islands

Situated in the old farmhouse where a pioneer family, the Roes, lived, this museum really gives visitors a sense of what it was like to homestead in Pender Island's earlier days. Staffed by volunteers who really know the history and the area, it's well worth a visit. It's also located on wonderful grounds which are now all parkland. A few old buildings still stand from the days when the Davidsons had a resort here called Roesland. Be sure to walk out to the headland and the white bench, admire the beach, the old heritage orchard, and the stands of Arbutus. It's food for the mind and tonic for the soul combined.

Saltwater Moon Fishing & Boat Charters

Reviewed By westernsje

My partner found the Saltwater Moons website through a link to the WOODS On Pender website. Neither of us had ever been ocean fishing before, and we wanted to give it a try. My partner contacted Captain Mike, who was able to find a morning for us despite the short notice. We met Captain Mike at his boat slip in the Poets Cove Marina, and set out. It was only a short boat trip to the salmon fishing grounds just off Pender Island. Captain Mike was friendly, entertaining, and very patient with my being a total novice to the sport. The four hours flew by as we talked, traded stories, and occasionally caught fish. Captain Mike is knowledgable, helpful, and willing to do all the messy work. This is a great way to spend a half day, and to get some fresh salmon!
