If you visit Amalfi and would like to do something that most of the sheeple don't do then this is for you! Avoid the crowds and tourist hotspots to discover a truly unique and magical place. Follow the steps past the paper museum up in to the mountain where you trek uphill alongside the river towards the nature reserve. Along the way you pass abandoned water mills, small falls & pools as well as a delightful organic cafe serving cold drinks and food. It takes about an hour of uphill walking to get to the reserve but it is well worth the effort! Stunning scenery and breathtaking views await you. The path is easy to follow but sturdy footwear is a must. Allow at least 2 hours to get to the reserve and back again, more if you stop on the way or want to explore the reserve.

Surely - if you're in Amalfi, this is a must for visiting. Vast exhibitionary Duomo with plenty of things to discover. The exterior, however, exceeds the interior. You may be well enough just to admire the staircase leading up to the Cathedral. If you pay a visit inside, there are two churches and a crypt to discover along with a museum part which is quite extensive.

An exquisite museum. As a matter of fact, it is still essentially fully functional. The guide leads you through the making of paper throughout the different moments of industrial development. It is, in an era of kindles and PDFs, an ode to time. The time it takes to make a paper that lasts, unlike Kindles, for centuries. And all through 100% natural approaches. Something to think about in an era of pseudo-speed and alleged efficiency. The staff is kind and available for explanations and very devoted to the location. An unexpected surprise in one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. A must see.

While the main Piazza and old town are bustling with tourists, shopping, etc...this nice cloister looks it's miles away from it.
Positioned on the back side of the beautiful Cathedral it's a place to have some rest and set your impressions by the beautiful Gardens around. It's included in a 3 euro entrance fee.

We loved it here. There was a great atmosphere day and night and always something to see or do. Lots of old cobbled streets lined with shops and restaurants, an ideal place to people watch and relax. We were lucky enough to watch a classical concert outdoors in the streets one evening which was wonderful.

Had a great hike up a beautiful and different valley. Walked beside the flowing stream, complete with Waterfalls, for the first hour, past overgrown and photogenic factory ruins. Plenty of forest and cool on a hot day.
Leaving the stream it was a steady climb to the village of Pontone and then Ravello before steep stairs, each higher than usual, down to Atrani and back to Amalfi.
Highly recommended and took just over three hours.
