I'd heard of Carreg Cennen Castle near Llandeilo years ago from a friend who used to live nearby, and he truely didn't do it justice! Carreg Cennen Castle is simply put a Spectacular, Stunning & Magnificant Castle Ruin towering on the hill top on the edge of the Brecon Beacons - one of the most stunning castle locations we've ever visited - and we've been to quite a few! Well maintained by CADW, so we had free entry using our CADW membership. Friendly helpful staff. Stunning all round views, even of the castle ruin on the way up - a little wet underfoot, but it was October in Wales!!! Highlight for the family was the cave and tunnel under the castle. Suggest you bring a torch, or you can rent them for £1.50 from the warden. Nice little cafe next to the car park at the bottom.

Well worth a visit, stunning scenery from the castle. Quite a steep climb so maybe not for people with mobility issues.

Dinefwr is a wonderful 800 acre estate with parkland walks, a Mill Pond, Bog Wood Boardwalk, Childrens Play Area, Newton House with Tea rooms and courtyard shopping area and a Medieval Castle which is managed by Cadw. The estate and Newton hosue are owned and managed by the National Trust. Castle Woods and Dinefwr Castle are owned by the South Wales Wildlife Trust and managed by Cadw. Dinefwr is a beautiful place to escape the rush of modern life and enoy the scents and sounds of nature. Whether you are marvelling at the wonderful panoramic views of the Towyi river from the castle parapets or getting up close to the dragonflies on the Mill Pond, you cant help but fall in love with Dinefwr's Parkland. There are walks to suit all abilities and childrens tracker packs to help families discover and have fun together. Newton House is not a noral National Trust dressed house but instead acts as an exhibition telling the history of times gone by. The charm of Newton House is truely expereinced on the free Hidden House Tour. It is a house with no ropes and very much a space for families to enjoy. Fancy playing a steinway piano ? You can in Newton House. Inside the house there is also the Billiard Room, a licenced restaurant, the China Passage Art Gallery; and the Inner Courtyard Gift Shop show casing local products and plants. Never been hear before just though we would stop by on our way home. Amazing estate very friendly lots to do and see lots of history Well worth a visit. We will be going back soon when it reopens. Check opening times on the National Trust website.

Loved the castle, which we accessed by car as there was parking for the disabled up that way. Accessed via a long pathway with a couple of gates to keep in the sheep. The house was interesting, though it was the haunted element which fascinated us, and it was a great move to give a few guests the free Hidden House tour, which we really enjoyed. We were able to view rooms and "the corridor" (where the ghosts are apparently more active) and things about the place which we would never have known about otherwise. The gift shop was lovely - several different areas with some great, original items and 10% off if you spent over £10 in the cafe. The cafe was wonderful. Exceptional, in fact. The chilli was delicious, and the jackets were well cooked (not your average reheated tough potato) and we loved the cornish pasties, they were absolutely top-notch. There was green tea available, excellent coffee and a whole range of other drinks. If this cafe was available locally to me I'd be in there A LOT!! All in all, a great place, but what also stood out were the staff. Exceptional service all the way, and in the hut where we bought the tickets, the guy serving was absolutely lovely and so customer-friendly and genuinely warm. Loved this place and cannot recommend it highly enough.

This is a National Trust property with a difference. The house is unusual in that you are able to touch what you like and sit on chairs without the risk of being in trouble. Loved the staff, so enthusiastic and welcoming, especially the chap who was practicing his story telling and presentation, for whom we provided a willing audience. He was very knowledgeable and brought the story to life with the aid of costume props and his humour. Well done that man (sorry but didn't get his name). Not only do you get access to the house, but also the castle, which has stunning views from the walls and towers. The grounds and walks are lovely, and of course, wonderful cakes and coffee in the cafe.

We visited the park as part of our charity tractor run organised by the Kidwelly Tractor Club on the August Bank Holiday. Frances had been excellent in organising with the car parking company for free parking for the tractors. We parked in front of the mansion house and had some beautiful pictures taken. The weather was fantastic and the welcome from Frances and her team was excellent. The café donated free refreshments to the participants of the tractor run as a contribution to the event. Couldn't have asked for more from the park. Such a lovely place. Thanks for everything.
