Great Little Motel

Can’t really fault this motel. There isn’t a great deal of accomodation in town, and sometimes with little competition, the standards can fall. Luckily this isn’t the case for Antonio Mews. Very comfortable beds, a 5-10 minute walk from the shops and restaurants in town, and Netflix in the rooms. A great stay here.

OMG what an amazing place for my birthday surprise. So the weather may have been a bit moist, who cares when you have such a beautiful calming place to warm by the fire and have a quiet drink. Dinner was faultless. Being vegetarian narrowed our options but the Vege Curry was simply sublime. Desert was a perfect finish to the meal leaving us satisfied and we'll nourished. We took an overnight stay package which included breakfast which we opted for Eggs Benedict, simple but again perfectly balanced and filling. Coffee and hot chocolate were made perfectly. All of the staff interaction was professional but relaxed and courteous. The room we had was comfortable, warm and the spa bath was a bonus surprise. Well done Pete an the team. Stratford Mountain House is an all round winner for accomodation and dining.

A fantastic stop over en route to somewhere!

Reviewed By Jo B

We had a night here on our way from Cambridge to New Plymouth and we are so glad we did! Route 43 ‘the forgotten highway’ is such an adventure to drive with amazing scenery. The Whangamomona Hotel was the perfect overnight stop. The lodge was super clean and comfortable, the staff were fantastic, so friendly and happy to tell us the history of the hotel, plus it is shown in pictures around the walls. We had dinner, which was absolutely delicious and the beer and wine went down very well. We would definitely recommend you have an overnight stop here, and if you don’t have time, you must pop in for a pint or a coffee. We will definitely stop over next time we are on a road trip and advertise the hotel on all the merchandise we have purchased for presents to take home!

Music night, BBQ and overnight stay

Reviewed By Jill S

We have been to the gardens of Te Popo a few times and on our last visit we were told by Les and Amanda about the BBQ and live music night..so we booked to go and also stay overnight. Wow what a night - ok so I am not a huge fan of country and western but the music was good.....the food was also very tasty and plentiful, company was awesome. Amanda our host suggested we join another couple which we did and it was fun. It is BYO drink....which we had forgotten so had to tootle off to supermarket to get some.... We stayed in the Elephant room, lovely large room with log burner, heater and electric blankets,....bathroom was spacious too and clean and tidy....everything you needed and more was there. Amanda and Les our hosts and owners were absolutely awesome, friendly, jokey, and Les can sing and play a guitar......would we go back.....Hell yes.
