The Sidney Pier Hotel & Spa

55-room boutique hotel and spa opened in May 2007. Located on the waterfront in the charming seaside town of Sidney, British Columbia on Vancouver Island - just 10 minutes from the Victoria International Airport, BC Ferries to Vancouver, and Washington State Ferries to Anacortes, Washington. 30 minute drive to downtown Victoria. Complimentary use of 24 hour Fitness Centre. 3 Meeting/Function rooms for groups up to 60 people.

Nice but noisy.

The hotel was not close to full so why we got put in a room beside the elevator and right above the street is beyond me. There must have been similar rooms at least on higher floors. I booked direct with the hotel so I wasn’t on a discounted rate from a booking service. At check out I was told to ask next time for a better room. I worked at a hotel in Victoria before leaving the island, so I know the hotel can be proactive and move guests to quieter rooms when not full. It’s just lazy on the hotels part to not check which rooms have been allocated and what’s available that might be quieter for example. For $250/night I expected better. Room was clean and spacious though, just loud. Great location too.

This little Sidney gem is disguised by its shabby exterior. Get past the aged foyer and the hotel offers all the luxuries you would ever need. Excellent amenities, friendly staff and very comfortable beds. BRAVO Best Western.

We weren't here long enough to enjoy all this hotel has to offer or the location. We arrived late on the ferry and left the following day to continue our trip. Pros: Very clean Quiet Comfortable bed On the ocean Close to airport and ferry Breakfast in room (they are not doing hot breakfast yet so this is a continental breakfast to take to your room) Friendly front desk No cons Good value for the room rate. We will stay longer next time. Sidney looks like a nice little town to visit.

We stayed at the Sidney Travelodge for 4 nights. The room was very clean and quiet. Beds were very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, close to everything. We did not have to use a car in Sidney at all. Also Travelodge is located in a very safe neighborhood. Breakfast was delicious. Our kids really enjoyed fresh made waffles. We will always come back to Sidney Travelodge.

The Latch Inn

The Latch Inn, on Harbour Road in Sidney, is steeped in history and a glamourous past. In 1925, the Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia, Walter C. Nichol, commissioned famous architect Samuel Maclure to build him a summer home on a piece of forested property on the Saanich peninsula. The residence, completed in 1926 and coined ‘Miraloma', was a brilliant confluence of the environment and artistic design. Even today, it oozes an old-world elegance and charm. Once the playground for the upper crust, it hosted sumptuous garden parties and welcomed visits from dignitaries and royalty. Edward, the Prince of Wales, and his brother George enjoyed the classy and comfortable accommodation in a state tour of British Columbia in 1927. In the 1940s, it became known as ‘The Latch', reflecting the fact that every door in the house is opened with a latch and iron key.

Fabulous attention to breakfast details.

Very unique and charming home. Our recent two night stay at The Latch bed & breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable. Our rooms were very comfortable and we also had use of the large living/sitting room areas as well, where there is a large fireplace and a comfortable space to visit, play board games and enjoy a coffee. There were fresh baked cookies put out at 7:00 pm and coffee laid out at 7:00 am. Lovely location and beautiful grounds and outside patio as well. The breakfast selections included with our stay were delicious creations by their chef and the food presentation was amazing. Dominic and Michael took good care of us as I am sure David would have as well, but he wasn’t on shift while we were there. Would definitely recommend The Latch to friends and family, heck, and strangers too. Enjoy!

They got the “Bed” right, but the “Breakfast” needs lots of work.

The inn is a wonderful old home, and the room was tastefully decorated with all the amenities. The bed was very comfortable. However, when walking around the room I couldn’t get the song “Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign” out of my mind. There was no lack of instructions/directions pasted everywhere. My big beef is it’s a bed & breakfast. You could go into any restaurant in Sidney and get a meal. So why is the Beacon Inn providing a cold prepackaged container with most breakfast items right from Costco. I’ve stayed in high end B&B’s world wide, and for almost $200 per night you always get a hot sit down breakfast. Totally disappointing. Next I ask before reserving.
