Magical. Best place to de-stress from hectic Dakar.
Reviewed By Jean-Bernard CI stayed twice at chez Eric and I am pretty sure I will come back. The place is spotless. Comfortable and 100% safe. So quiet and yet so close to hectic Dakar. The staff is nice and helpful. And the breakfast with hot croissants and homemade Bissap the best I had in Senegal. The kind of hotel you will never forget. L’endroit est magique. Propreté impeccable. 100% sûr. Tellement calme et pourtant si proche de la cohue de Dakar. Le personnel est efficace et chaleureux et le petit déjeuner (croissants chauds et bissap fait maison) le meilleur que j’ai eu au Sénégal. Le genre d’hôtel que vous n’oublierez pas.

A restored masonry of the 13th century, the Augustin Ly House breathes the mixed charm of Goree’s traditional architecture with its thick basalt walls coated with lime, its enclosed courtyard, its terrace, its passageway and its balcony (it is one of oldest houses of the island). It also considers the little constraints of today’s life (WI-FI, warm water, electricity.)Each of the three rooms as well as the Suite of the house allow access to the shared areas, drinking tea in the courtyard, meditating on the terrace, reading under the passageway or contemplating the sea from the balcony.Each room has a private bathroom, Wi-Fi and a small work table for the most courageous. All the beds are equipped with mosquito nets. If you wish it, your room will be scented with the traditional incense, Tchouraï.

Reviewed By beachbummer75We wanted a quiet quaint place away from the crowds and this was it It’s a small lodge, located off the beaten track We chose the suite - Bedroom with study It has old style architecture, filled with arts pieces, sculptures, nice sofas and lounge areas to sit, read or to chill Thé breakfast was simple but sufficient Juices, eggs, bread, fruits, coffee and tea The guy managing the lodge was chatty, informative, helpful and quick. Worth the weekend stay and a repeat visit

Straight off the ferry into the pool
Reviewed By smgeorgThis hotel is immaculate and so so pretty with blue shutters and bourgainvillia. Just a few steps off the ferry. While everyone else stomped up the hill or round the fort together, we had a dip and a drink and then set off to walk the island almost alone. A great nights sleep on crisp white sheets, breakfast on the roof, and a short walk to the next ferry back to Dakar. I loved wandering around the island in the evening.

Gorgeous hotel stone's throw from ferry
Reviewed By RJ SThis is a gorgeous, clean hotel with very kind staff. Just a short walk up the lane, feet, from ferry and restaurants. Beauty is in room appointments, spacious with modern bathroom, and the central courtyard, lovely dark wood and green flowering plants. Only possible negative is that sounds travel in same courtyard or from street (kids go early to school) if you're sensitive to that; didn't bother me.

Simple and honest
Reviewed By staffanmDon't expect wonders. Gorée has got low water pressure and the plumbing is African. The mosquito net has been attached outside, not inside the metal structure over the bed, so bring your own if your stay falls in the rainy season. Your online reservation must be confirmed by phone in order to be taken into account. But the bed was fine, the night was quiet, the décor is French colonial, including quirking floors (that is why you want come to Gorée, right?) and staff was helpful. A rare mix of an authentic and reasonably comfortable experience.
