Reviewed By deloresc374Couldn't belive that one of the staff on site told me this! Pretty sad now a days given the world is short staffed but this company lacks highering standards. They have a dangerous dangerous manworking in the kitchen at the restaurant there. Women should be aware as he also lives right in the camp.Women stay vigilant I was told to stay vigilant ! Absolutely disgusting!

Reviewed By Treeman2018Newton Cove Resort is so outstanding that to rate it fairly would require at least another star. This elegant but simple resort is located on floats in the stunningly beautiful and well sheltered Newton Cove. The location is just 10 minutes from the desirable “outside” fishing grounds off Nootka Island on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. It is accessible by boat from Tahsis or its sister Moutcha Bay Resort, or by float plane (service from both various spots in BC, including Vancouver, and Seattle). The food was so good that it reminded us of the Michelin-starred restaurants we have enjoyed, albeit without all the white gloves and simultaneous service (which I can do without). We had a simply magical dinner, cooked over an open fire, on the beach at nearby Catalla Island. Fishing is outstanding for chinook up to 30+ lbs, large northern coho, halibut, ling cod and rockfish. You can bring your own boat, use their guides or hire your own guide from nearby Tahsis. The staff will process your catch to your specification, vacuum pack and freeze it then package it all in an airline-friendly insulated box for your trip home. The protected inside waters are ideal for kayaking, and the nearby old-growth forests invite exploration and foraging. Bears on the shore, eagles overhead and marine mammals (whales, orcas, porpoises, seals, sea lions) in the sea provide constant entertainment. As wonderful as all this is, the people and service eclipse everything else. The staff are cheerful, helpful and accommodating. After a day of fishing you are greeted with a warm moist towel dockside—this is the only place THAT has ever happened to me!

Reviewed By Barb CWe stayed at this resort July 25-28... they could not have been more receptive and welcoming. It was our first time here. The service staff were always friendly.. The place was clean and organized. The food was creative and tasty! It's one thing to provide great service but the true mark of a company is how they handle problems. We had a fish process issue (which was not the resort fault).. but regardless they went over and beyond to ensure that we were looked after. It was resolved quickly and by multiple levels of management.... That to me shows the true depth of service and professionalism. We will be back next year!!

Reviewed By L4553YYrichardbShawzy's Charters did their homework, my friend and I booked our annual fishing charter this year with Shawzy's, after we found them in Tahsis B.C. as we were on an other charter for 4 days using the same Marina we noticed they arrived at the dock everyday with a huge load of fish, while we had non. It was a good move, they are first class all the way from the p/u in Courtenay to the lodge, the food and drink, to the boats (Boston Walers) the fishing gear, the professional guides, the processing oy your catch, packaging freezing & insulated boxing for transporting, we just can't say enough about this company, We Will Be Back!!

JOHN IS A THIEF!!!
Reviewed By P573ELmatteDO NOT EVER- EVER-EVER BOOK A TRIP HERE!!!! My father and I booked a trip in early 2020, for May 2020, Covid came along and the borders closed. We contacted John and we moved our trip to May 2021. Borders were still closed. we finally had to cancel the trip and John (the owner) said he'd refund 80% of our money, which was around $2000 US, each! It's been FOUR months and not a single dime has been refunded. There have been many many phone calls and e-mails and still nothing. If you call, like yesterday, he's not available or last week he was busy with the fishing derby and" will get it taken care of" or, and this is my favorite "I don't know what you're talking about" despite prior phone conversations with him and e-mails. I don't expect to get any money back now. I just hope this helps other people to stay away. This guy is a bag! Again, DO NOT BOOK A TRIP HERE!!! JOHN REFUND OUR MONEY!!!!
