We booked a tour to Bigi Pan (Stephanie's Lodge) and small SUV rental via Orange Travel. Communication was quick and accurate. Payment can be made to a Dutch bank account which is handy for Dutch travellers and avoids money transfer fees. The car rental was executed by Dcars in the Frederik Derbystraat. We found this out fairly late and it was a bit far from our hotel, in hindsight it would have been better to know this earlier. Orange Travel obsessed a lot about the car return on early Sunday morning when we were coming from Groningen - we would have to do this at an hotel with a 24x7 reception. In practice however Dcars allowed us to park the car at their premises and drop the key in a box. Knowing this in advance would have saved us a small concern. Otherwise, the trip to Bigi Pan went as expected (fabulous) and the small SUV we rented, a Pajero, was very old but in quite good shape and served us well. Overall we can recommend Orange Travel.

We drive in the neighborhood of Jodensavanne past 2 small indigenous villages and see how the locals live. The bus ride is continued to a seaside resort nearby. This is a recreational resort near the village of Redi-Doti. A creek with cool water, full of minerals and has obtained the dark color because of the leaves. You can take a walk in the area, spot various birds or just enjoy the peace and nature.

We took a taxi($3) 3.5 km north from our Downtown Oasis Guesthouse to the Saoena Zondagmarkt. This large Indonesian Market is 150 m from the 'Sanya Budaya' Cultural Center where the tall 1990 Javanese Immigration Monument celebrates 100 years since the 33,000 contract workers came from Java in 1890. This weekly gathering is a festival for the descendants, a flea market, has produce, ready to eat food, music, a bit of everything. Family friendly and enjoyable.
