"Maximizing Comfort" was our guide's motto when we started crossing Finnmarksvidda with skis and tents in arctic February. "Anybody can be miserable our there- being comfortable is the real trick" he said. And quickly we really felt "at home out there" in magnificent wintery wilderness. I went on this tour with my only just 16 year old nephew- the first winter outdoor experience for both of us. We quickly learned the little tricks to stay warm, dry, fed and happy and settled into a nomadic winter routine. It was amazing! Opening the tent zipper in the crisp quiet morning, marveling at the untouched white beauty of the landscape while sipping coffee. After breakfast and packing our pulkas we were skiing along through the beautiful scenery under the low arctic sun, having frequent snack breaks (which my nephew loved especially) or lunch, chatting with our really nice companions or just enjoying the quiet and the snow. At times we saw a raven, a fox or reindeer herds. During the spectacular endless arctic sunset we put up camp and settled in, having nice hot cooked dinner with our companions in the fuming kitchen tent. The "out there at home"- routine went on with brushing our teeth under northern lights or very bright stars, running around the camp to get extra warm before cuddling up in our sleeping bags. Our equipment prooved to be really good. One day we had a snow storm so we had to stop. The halfway pre-mounted solid tents were put up in minutes and we were having a safe and cozy night while the wind was howling outside. Our guides Kasper and Marlene were wonderful, warm and cheerful, and absolute experts in arctic wilderness. They had everybody and everything in mind in their thoughtful and uncomplicated way. They made us have a magnificent experience and obviously really enjoyed the tour themselves. Thank you so much, it was an epic tour and an invaluable experience! When preparing for the trip the Turgleder team was extremely helpful and supportive. They answered tons of questions, gave us a lot of good advice, encouraged my teenage nephew to come along and even helped him out with equipment to make it possible for him to come. - Thank you so much, he had a wonderful time and very precious experiences. I can highly recommend this tour and the Turgleder company. We had a wonderful arctic experience an were in perfect hands.
