Nautic Hotell Marstrand

A Warm Welcome to Nautic Hotel Marstrand! We are a classic hotel dating back to the golden years of Marstrands history. Fantastic location by legendary Socitetshuset and the northern approach to the harbor. Beautiful sunset and easy access to the bathing area. Our rooms are all newly renovated in the spirit of the marine surroundings and great saint tradition of the island. Breakfast is included for all our dear guests. Please visit our quite little rescue in amazing Marstrand!

Be sure to request a room without a beam dissecting it

A charming old hotel on a stunning island but I would not stay here again. Our room had a giant beam running across half of it so my husband had to hang onto the beam and swing around it to get into bed. The room was so stuffy I didn’t think we’d be able to sleep, and that was with the window open the few inches it went. A tiny bathroom but that’s to be expected and the water pressure was great. The staff wasn’t very friendly and rarely seen except at breakfast. Breakfast is fine. We paid more here than we did for fancier hotels in the cities.

Great fun

Such a fun, interesting place to stay. You can explore the fortress as much as you want which was especially fun at dusk. Really yummy breakfast and friendly staff. Rooms are comfortably simple and spotlessly clean. We even got to see the real Kommendant who was helping at reception.

Grand Hotel Marstrand

Grand Hotel Marstrand offers a high-class accommodation in a genuine archipelago scenery. The house was built in 1892 as a summer residence for king Oscar II. He spent all his summers here in room number 24. The hotel has ever since that time been well known for its contemporary charm and thoughtful architecture. Today you can enjoy our four-star hotel in the stylish rooms. In our kitchen, Grand Tenan, praised classics such as Fillet of Beef Africana and Tenans´ crayfish au gratin are served. Everything is prepared according to original recipes. You can also enjoy our well-cooked à la carte with a broad variety of meet and seafood dishes.

Once upon a time...

Reviewed By Vierdank

...there was (most probably) a Grand hotel. This is because the Swedish king Oscar II visited Marstrand for decades during his period of reign. He wanted his "entourage" to live comfortably, so the hotel was to a large degree the result of his visits. Before that (and during many years on) Marstrand was an ordinary fishing village with herring being the main product. The grandeur of Grand has alas faded since the former turn of the century. Grand Hotel today relies on times past and indeed, there is much "charm". However, holding four (4) official stars, charm must be paired with quality. The style is there, but it's a very worn environment that meets the guest. The four stars also allows the hotel to uphold the prices - a stay is not cheap in any way. Considering the price level, Grand should seriously consider a reverential renovation, keeping all of the charm, but, at least, repair things that are broken (basins for instance or/and tiling). Staff is very kind, but act mostly as summer substitutes constantly asking each other of basic "hotel things" that should be common knowledge to a receptionist/concierge. The result is a lack of efficiency and a really slow pace for most duties. Rooms are indeed charming, but as mentioned, quite worn down. Bathrooms especially, resulting in shower heads not fitting their fittings, leakage, broken wash basins etc. Not four stars. Likewise, based on the four stars, breakfast is a joke. Small and mediocre offers on the buffet. Remember Marstrand was/is the "world of herring"? In Sweden nearly every hotel (and certainly EVERY hotel with four stars) have a small assortment of the Swedish national dish "pickled herring". And very often also salmon. Not Grand Hotel Marstrand. A few charcuteries and scrambled eggs made on egg powder. Breakfast announced to be served from 8-10. We where at the door at eight o'clock. The bins with scrambled eggs and bacon was almost empty. Who had eaten - the staff? There was no coffe. The plates ran out. The staff acted as they were caught on the bedside. Big surprise: the guests wanted to have breakfast at the given time! Check out time was set to 10. Yes, 10... (until June 30th - 11:00 during July and the summer). Now... really... Grand Hotel Marstrand earn two TA-points tops. But I give one more for the genuine, but tired environment. Sorry to say, I cannot really, for the money, recommend this hotel.

Incredible View in well equipped flat

This apartment hotel is in the perfect location in Marstrand, less than 100meters from the ferry. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The hotel is older but clean and well taken care of. Kichen has everything you need to prepare meals. Tge living dining area is very spacious but the view from room 204 couldn’t be beat, facing the harbour and ferry. Massive deck with chairs that in better weather would have been wonderful to enjoy all that natural beauty. There is an outdoor pool, indoor sauna and billiards room. Great place for a relaxing getaway on Marstrand
