It takes roughly half an hour to walk there from the town centre of Solothurn and it is definitely worth doing it providing it’s a nice day. You see fields, old churches and monasteries, beautiful houses and gardens so it is a pleasant walk. The castle is stunning and the formal Italian/French garden was designed to impress - this is Switzerland though...don’t expect a huge aristocratic mansion ;-) but worth a visit! You can visit the stately rooms - the gardens are free.
