Former Taisha Station

A beautiful wooden station building designated as an important cultural property of the country. Interiors and railway goods with high historical value are worth seeing as well as railway fans.

Reviewed By jeffreyrg - Higashihiroshima, Japan

Visiting this old station feels like going back in time. You can still see the schedules, mannequins wearing the original uniform, the railtracks and the train. The best part is it is free and near the other tourist spots.

Matsue Castle Town

Reviewed By GaryH990 - Bloomington, United States

A stroll around the castle moat will take you to a collection of rather old houses, done in the early style but updated for convenience. Several are now tea houses or soba noodle shops, all set in very pleasant surroundings.

Tokoji Temple

Reviewed By Yuan_MY - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

It was a pleasant 15-20 minutes walk from Shoin Shrine to Tokoji Temple. The Chinese-influenced Tokoji Temple is located in the compound after passing through the first beautiful red gate and the second imposing and intricate gate. Walking deeper into the temple compound, you will reach the graves of the odd-numbered Mori lords (The first and even-numbered lords are at the more out of the way Daishoin Temple. However, their graves are just as impressive) Upon reaching the graves which was in a serene wooded area, hundreds of beautiful traditional stone lanterns lined the paths to the graves. Really a magnificent sight.
