Hesse (/ˈhɛsə/) or Hessia (German: Hessen [ˈhɛsn̩], Hessian dialect: Hesse [ˈhɛzə]) is a federal state (Land) of the Federal Republic of Germany, with just over six million inhabitants. We rode the Seilbahn down to Rudesheim after having hiked the area most of the day. We found the service to be friendly and the tram was a great, smooth ride with gorgeous views. We highly recommend it!

The Sesselbahn sat just a short walk away from our hotel in Assmanhausen. The view on the ride was absolutely gorgeous! In the open air chair lift, you’ll get some great views of local vineyards, the forrest, and some limited views of the Rhine. The ride was very smooth and the staff pleasant. NOTE: My recommendation is that you buy the Romantic Package (€20/person), which includes a ride on the Sesselbahn, Seilbahn tram, a boat ride down the Rhine and entry into Rhinestein Castle. All in all, a great way to spend a sunny day in Rudesheim. We highly recommend it!
