Port Renfrew RV Resort is a new property located on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island. It features up to 16 full-service RV / Trailer sites with full hook-ups. Each site is unique, featuring incredible landscaping features and are semi-private.
We have been RVing across eastern Canada and have seen RV resorts. This is barely a campground. It is a gravelly area divided Into lots. There appears to be no check in onsite or no one checked on us when we pulled in. There is no firewood available and no tables. Would like to have been told this at booking. It felt like we were parked in a gravel driveway. There is move gravel roads and construction above it so there is no ambience to say. There are a few permanent residents it appears and some that don’t keep their sites very clean. We had booked for 2 nights and left after the first night. So very disappointed. I’m not sure why people are saying it’s a 5 star. It’s puzzling.

Friendly check-in and service. Outhouse was what one might expect (but painted and fairly clean) and there were washrooms, showers and laundry near the office. Stunning view. Not every campsite has a table, but we did have one between our two side-by-side sites. It was an amazing view, friendly campers, and a quiet night after 10:30. Intrigued by the beds in the huts if we have friends who prefer not to tent and don't have RVs next time. I was in a small RV trailer and had power and water on the beach. Campfire wood not sold on site, but I prepared for that and brought wood. I also was pleasantly surprised that I could roam on the US data with Rogers so was able to stay in touch when I expected to not have any data. Not a super-luxe site, but I will very happily return.

Amazing view, bbq, hot tub, eagles and comfy king bed! We enjoyed this stay. House was clean and tidy. We loved the fire at night time as well too. Highly recommend any of the properties with Handsome Dan!

The 2 cabins on the river are set in an amazing location between two arms of the San Juan River. The river is affected by tides, with one branch immediately behind the cooking area/fire pit becoming a rock stream at times, and the new main branch flowing at the doorstep to the property's long driveway. If you enjoy big trees, birding and other wildlife, then you will find this location absolutely rewarding. The hosts are friendly and interesting and have done a lot to make their acreage a piece of refuge in nature. Fires were ready for lighting if you want a post meal glass of wine with a barred owl for a soundtrack. I used a portable plate to cook in the nearby outside cooking area; this way the odours of meals didn't linger in the cabin. The cooking area is a joy to be in, bounded by large firs, cottonwoods and big leaf maples, and has good lighting, a barbeque and ac plug ins, so you can enjoy the outdoors while making your meal. The retreat is at the end of a road cradling the river, complete with scenes of leaping salmon, migratory birds and giant trunks of fallen sitka spruce on the banks. We thoroughly enjoyed the retreat and its owners, a refuge, but only minutes away from the general store, pubs, beaches and groves of ancient trees. (wifi was surprisingly strong)

One of the few RV spots in Port Renfrew. It’s very casual. Very limited hookups which are usually taken by regulars. Cash only, no reservations, first come/first served. No cell service. No sani-dump (none in Port Renfrew). Potable water available. There is a pay phone. They’re willing to work with you to find a spot to park but you must be self-contained.
