Bredon Hill

Reviewed By JollyMonkey1 - Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom

Having seen Bredon Hill many times from the top of the Malverns I had wanted to do this walk for a long time. Although not as high as Worcestershire Beacon on the Malverns, Bredon Hill is by no means its inferior little brother. The walk is just as rewarding and the scenery is equally as dramatic...with spectacular 360 degree views across the Vale of Evesham, the Cotswolds and the Malverns. The summit point by the tower is the perfect place for a picnic and whilst it was clearly a popular spot on the day of our visit, there is oodles of room for everyone & you can easily enjoy your own piece of solitude whilst taking in the stunning panaromic views. We started our walk from Elmley Castle village and make sure you visit its very pretty church yard before you leave. In summary, this was a truly inspirational walk which on a beautiful sunny day is the perfect way to help lift anyone out of lockdown lethargy.

Tiddesley Wood Nature Reserve

A semi-natural ancient woodland nature reserve important for butterflies, wildflowers and birds.

We walked through Tiddesley Woods as part of a circular walk from Pershore Abbey. Really enjoyable stretch of woodland, and we then crossed the A4104 and carried on along the River Avon back into the town to the Pershore Bridges car park (free parking).

Pershore Abbey

For over 1300 years Pershore Abbey has been a centre for Christian worship and life, from its early beginnings as a Saxon monastery to today, as people of all ages still gather to pray, share their spiritual journey and mark significant life events in this place. Pershore Abbey celebrates its Benedictine heritage particularly through its welcome of visitors and pilgrims. We hope your visit to the Abbey will be both rewarding and memorable. One of the finest example of Norman and Early English architecture in the country, Pershore Abbey is very much a broken building: Henry VIII destroyed the nave at the time of the dissolution of the monasteries; the north transept collapsed in the middle 1600s. But, in spite of its brokenness, the Abbey symbolises a place where, through the love of Christ, a community can become whole.

RAF Defford Museum

Reviewed By Ivegotamonkey - Glossop, United Kingdom

RAF Defford was the secret base used for the development of RADAR during and after World War 2. The museum is located at Croome Court National Trust, so you get 2 for 1 attractions. Well worth a visit and I recommend at least half a day to explore.

This is my third year of visiting the confetti fields and each year it's improving to cater for the increase numbers of visitors. It's well signposted, friendly staff and their website page has kept potential visitors informed of any closure due to the poor weather earlier in the week. The fields are absolutely beautiful with ample photo opportunities. The previous years I've noticed adults using the selfie sticks as this year it was full of baby/toddlers being photographed in their Sunday best. The majority of the children didn't really want to play ball so they were grizzling or crying. I have read many critical posts this week from people and I don't understand them. It's in the title 'Real Confetti Company' it's a business not a random field full of beautiful flowers that just popped up for us to wander around and enjoy. If the cost is too much then don't go, spend your £5 admission somewhere else, simple. This year I bought a huge bunch of flowers for the reasonable sum of £10. I've displayed them in two vases and they look stunning. A few things I would mention though 1- I've never noticed any staff keeping an eye on visitors along the paths that trample on the flowers to create a photo opportunity. 2- Could the viewing platform be larger or either build a few more. It's well worth a visit, but you'll have to wait now until 2020.
