It's changed, it's affordable and sells solid pub grubDo you remember the time when pubs were places you went for a chat with the locals? Pubs over my lifetime have changed beyond all recognition and lots of pubs I used to know have either been totally ruined, with daft names being one particularly annoying affectation, whilst some historic old properties have just been knocked down and turned into homes.I do not want to go somewhere called the 'Fillet o'Fish & Firkin' or 'The Pretentious Mole', nor do I want wall to wall banks of televisions or wildly overpriced food served on a slate or a lump of wood by some superior waiter who wants to talk to me about provenance. I want a decent pint, a solid glass of wine and a well filled sandwich or pie.Having come from a funeral of an old friend I was certainly ready for a couple of pints when I wandered into The Crown which had, just a few short months ago been a gastro-pub charging around £18.00 a portion. In this neck of the woods it started off promisingly and then bombed. Two young sisters have it now, Kerrie serving behind the bar and her younger sister, Amy, cooking pub food such as pies, toasted sandwiches out the back. It is clean, welcoming and the beer is first class. The menu is sensible and fairly priced, although I don't know how these two youngsters will cope when there is a rush on.However, I can only say that I got some excellent service and would most certainly go back for a pint or three the next time I am in the neighbourhood. Let's hope enough people feel the same to keep a really traditional village pub going.Thank you for your review we are so happy you enjoyed your visitIt has not changed hands we just now have rejigged how our pub operates and employed new manager to run it. But we are so happy you like our new approach and hope to welcome you again soon

Family run thatched pub serving delicious food and drink in either our cosy bar with log burner, sunny airy conservatory or beautiful pub garden at the rear. Specialising in fresh fish. Well behaved dogs welcome too!
Had a Sunday lunch here at the last minute as we were passing. Even though there were fully booked, they found us a table with a 90 minutes time window. Good for us. Interesting fish specials that were well cooked and presented. Very fresh. Helpful and friendly staff. Will go back if in the area. Interesting menu options on the main menu as well.

I love historic buildings and this is certainly one of them. Built in 1537, it oozes charm and character with itâs flag stone floors (plus some carpeted areas) and old beams. It is conveniently located just off the A44 Worcester to Evesham Road at Lower Moor. They have a â2 meals for £12â lunchtime menu which represents very good value, but we chose lamb shanks from the main menu. It was the largest serving of lamb that we have ever had and everything was cooked to perfection. We were impressed. My wife couldnât eat all hers but I didnât let it beat me! The delightful new owners, who came in October 2017, are putting a lot of hard work into improving the facilities, sprucing up the premises and building up the business. In my opinion, they deserve to do well and I wish them good success.

Good food and friendly good service sat in the garden. Lots of choice of food, nice range of drinks. Nice to see a traditional bar area away from the eating area of those who want a drink in a more traditional pub environment. Reasonably priced. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review

Have eaten here before on a number of occasions. The place can be a little pretentious for what it is, nevertheless you generally receive a good meal. Not today. Waited a considerable time to receive our drinks.Ordered the beef for all of us.Terrible.The website states that the potatoes are cooked in goose fat. Well that goose fat must have evaporated as our potatoes were overcooked and dry. The veg had a taste on it. I canât even describe it other than that it was vile. The beef was thin and at one point I thought they were going for carpaccio, being almost raw in places. It was tough. Waiter asked if everything was ok and I said weâd wait to see if the dessert could redeem the meal. Sadly it did not. My cappuccino never arrived despite them trying to charge for it. On side note, the waiting staff were ok. Just sadly let down by the kitchen.Dear Steve,Thank you very much for your feedback. We are terribly sorry that you did not have the same experience and we failed to deliver our standards to your table. We have change plenty of things in our Sunday service since that Sunday, staring from the kitchen and cooking, ending on front of house Sunday work system. I could only dream that you give us another chance to see how we have improved the things.Kind Regards,LukaszFOH ManagerThe Angel

Welcome to the Queen Elizabeth, a community owned Traditional Village Inn and Restaurant in the heart of the beautiful and historic Worcestershire village of Elmley Castle. We offer a welcoming, comfortable hostelry in the great tradition of this recently
We both had mushroom and stilton ciabatta which were very tasty and good value for money along with a bowl of sweet potato fries. The drinks were not overpriced either and the staff friendly and pleasantThank you for your great feedback, which we do appreciate. Our Ciabatta's are very popular - they make a good lunch during these summer months, and of course they are all very tasty !! Hope to see you again soon.

Local Pub serving freshly prepared meals and a good selection of drinks and cask ales by friendly attentive staff in a comfortable relaxed environment.
Four of us had Sunday lunch to celebrate a friend's special birthday. The welcome from all staff was excellent as was the service throughout our visit. The seating in the restaurant was comfortable and there was plenty of space between the tables. The drinks were rather pricey. The various starters we had were very generoius portions and delicious. The main course was priced on the high side by Sunday lunch standards and could have been hotter. My meal was cold by the time I was a quarter of the way through it. However, the appple crumble and custard was amazing and good value. Overall it was a lovely experience, but the cost was at the upper end for a Sunday lunch.

A dog friendly pub with a bar and dining area. In the winter we have a log burner and serve seasonal menus. In the summer outside seating is available for el fresco dining. Special events are planned throughout the year.
Last week we said goodbye to my Gramp at the amazing age of 101. We chose the pub to get together to celebrate his life after the cremation service. Thank you Dolphin staff for a wonderful spread. We had an excellent variety of buffet food with lots of flavours and choices for all. The quality of the food was of a very high standard and ideal for an early evening meal. It continued to be replenished to keep it fresh and hot. The bar staff were efficient and very respectful of the circumstance, clearing up regularly throughout the event. I would highly recommend The Dolphin for an event of this nature for quality and value for money. Thank you for making it a memorable send off of a very special man.
