Quintal House Heritage Guest Home

Quintal House is a beautifully restored historic community structure whose original construction dates back to the mid 1800’s. The traditional heritage character and simple elegance of the house is accented with antique and modern functional furnishings and local artisan and craft pieces. This 3-story Heritage Guest Home currently has 3 rooms available, all with serene harbour front views. The house has a warm, ageless and charming character, tastefully decorated with a mix of old world charm and new modern comforts. All rooms have comfortable beds and are equipped with private baths for guest convenience. Quintal House offers quiet, calm, peaceful surroundings in a private, relaxing setting that is family friendly with both indoor and outdoor activities for the young and the young at heart. Situated in the heart of this quaint, picturesque fishing community, Quintal House is located next to Nicole’s Cafe, featuring fine traditional dining and cuisine, Wall Works local artisan shop and Growlers homemade ice cream shop. The Guest House is also located within short walking distance to the local boat dock and boat tour operations, Brett House Museum, traditional foot trails, berry picking patches and other community attractions such as coastal walking trails and remote artisan studios. Within short driving distance to beautiful Sandy Cove Beach and the Registered Heritage Community/District of Tilting, an Irish heritage community offering interpretive museums and scenic hiking trails. Located within the Labrador current from the North, Fogo Island’s geography is responsible for the parade of ice floe and icebergs that make their way South in the spring and early summer months along the Island’s North East Coast, allowing great views of these massive icebergs in spring and early summer months. An occasional winter visit to the Island by the great polar bear from the North, as well as frequent encounters in any season with the local caribou herd can be expected. An array of wildlife, waterfowl, plant life and berries can also be found on the Island. Breathtaking ocean shorelines and spectacular sunsets and sunrises are the geography and art lessons to be experienced here. Go beach combing on our shoreline, pick some berries, enjoy some hiking, take a boat tour, but most importantly meet some of our friendly locals who have a knack for ‘spinning a yarn’ (having a chat). Enjoy high quality entertainment, as these same Island locals have a unique musical and theatrical gift that is showcased at many of the on-going music festivals and theatrical events hosted throughout the year.

Fogo Island and the Quintal House are magical!

My wife and I immensely enjoyed our 3 night visit to Fogo in September during our month long visit to Atlantic Canada. The Quintal House was wonderful with Nadine the perfect host, warm and welcoming and very knowledgable of what makes Fogo such a special place on this earth. Using QH as our "home" base, we explored most of the island and enjoyed a number of exceptional hikes that made this special place come alive. We hope to return in the near future and when we do, Quintal House will be our only choice of residence.

Just as advertised. Great location and a wonderful host who was willing to share her local knowledge. A comfortable, clean, and friendly stay. The breakfasts were particularly good, especially the homemade bread.

Madonna and Leo are excellent contacts --there when you need them, but respect your privacy. Madonna was very helpful with local information. The much appreciated fresh baked goods, typical of Nfld., hit the spot. The cottage is quite adequate, but not luxurious. Very clean.

Beautiful Fogo island and excellent hospitality

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Tilting Harbour B & B. Our room was clean and comfortable and the view out the window was very scenic. Our host, Tom, was extremely knowledgeable and gracious, preparing excellent egg, bacon/sausage breakfasts with delicious berry scones. We were lucky enough to enjoy a home cooked meal that rivalled any 5 star restaurant. We were able to explore the island, go on a few excellent hikes, and join in on a community music celebration at the local coffeehouse. We would highly recommend this accommodation and a visit to wonderful Fogo Island.

Quiet Cannon Hotel

Great place to stay

Reviewed By Wanderer47110548517

We stayed for 4 nights early Fall 2021 for a caribou hunting trip. Me, my wife and son stayed in one of the efficiency units. It was large, very well equipped and clean. It was not fancy but better than average. The staff, Randolph Sheppard in particular, were excellent and helped us greatly in making our trip memorable and successful. Randolph took us into the country on his day off for a wonderful day of hiking and doing his very best to show off the place for which he is so justifiably proud. The prices were more than reasonable, and we really liked being able to put out vehicle in the line for the ferry and walk to the room for the night, assuring ourselves of a place on the boat for the first run back. We loved Fogo and the people. We’ll be back for sure, and will stay at the Quiet Cabin.
