Silchester Roman City Walls and Amphitheatre

Not for wet weather but on a sunny day the circuit of the wall is well worth doing. Handy parking. Take in the 12th Century Church and the amphitheatre. Lovely countryside views. Drinks and food at the Calleva in Silchester.

This abbey in the centre of the city is easy to find from the high street. It worth a look if only for the historical context of the Abbey.

Made a stop here whilst we were in the area. We had a lovely walk around the castle. Free car park just outside the castle grounds.
