Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds, excellent food.

Reviewed By Rachel A

I stayed here for three nights DBB in the Manor Suite, along with my Mum. The room overlooked the driving-range and lake, and it was lovely albeit a bit dated and in need of fresh paint work, but the bath was lovely and deep and the shower was powerful and the beds are very comfortable. Having the dining table was a bonus and made games of Scrabble and cards easier on the wet day we had. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the food was piping hot and delicious, the set menu was limited but everything was very tasty and we weren't disappointed. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and again hot and delicious. Altogether we had a lovely stay.

Monkey Island Estate

Monkey Island Estate lies on a picturesque island in the River Thames in the historic village of Bray, Berkshire. The island has a rich history centuries old, and has been the haunt of monarchs, aristocrats and artists, along with writers, famous performers and Berkshire locals and now is home to one of the finest hotels in Bray. The two grade I listed heritage pavilions which form the property were originally commissioned as a fishing retreat in 1723 by the third Duke of Marlborough. These have been completely restored and renovated, with beautifully landscaped gardens and picturesque views of the River Thames. Set across seven acres, Monkey Island Estate features 27 exquisite guestrooms and three sumptuous suites, designed by the award-winning New York-based Champalimaud Design. The furnishings juxtapose timeless glamour and traditional features with a modern, countryside style, creating a unique blend of past and present.

Lovely Location, reception and bar not so great

Reviewed By Djlhjl

Location is undoubtedly beautiful and unusual. However, the entrance over the bridge to the Island had 2 very ugly work trucks full of building equipment of some kind which was a sad welcome. They blocked the reception small house that did not have a very prominent signage anyway. Not an issue for us as not staying but another couple carried their luggage from the car park across the bridge and grounds and asked for the reception that they had missed. They had to walk back to check in. Not very 5 star. The outside comfy table to sit and have drinks by the river had no cushions on and were unusable so we sat on some others in a different area to where we wanted to be, the tables and surround was not spotless. The beautiful Pavilion in the website that looks lovely was presumably being used for a work conference and was not great to look into from where we sat. Drinks, wine was reasonable but half a pint at £6 and then a service charge of 12.5% added was overpriced. Service charge is used in so many places now ( I don’t like it and would rather tip when good service is received) but at least if you get served to your table you have to just get in with it, but to go to the bar and order 2 drinks and have service added when you’ve not been ‘waited on’ is a bit of a joke. Was looking for nice places to stay in the area but don’t think will be going back.

Exceptional Service delivery and Wonderful Hotel

Reviewed By NorrisaG1

From the moment I arrived to the moment I checked out, everything about the experience was beautiful. The staff are amazing from the reception, bar and restaurant. I felt warm and welcomed, with excellent attention to detail, and extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Can I please celebrate a few of the names that I remember: Rachel, you are forever imprinted in my mind, diligent and exceptional delivery that made me feel welcomed and cared for. Thank you for being you, I will not forget how you took care of me. Kamil seamless efficiency and congratulations on your promotion, I can tell it is well deserved. At dinner I was so indecisive because of the amazing offerings available, however, Ruben handled me with care and made a recommendation of 'Surt and Turf' that was absolutely mouth-watering and tasted divine. Not forgetting the F&B supervisor who whipped up my drink with a smile and great conversation. So many amazing encounters to make a great stay. My room was lovely, clean and well presented. I slept like a baby. I am so bad with names, please do not feel offended if I have not mentioned you all, because your delivery was incredible. The hotel is situated in such a vibrant and idyllic location and to top it all off, the changing of the Queen's Guards happens right outside the hotel. The area beckons you to explore it, with long walks and castles (by the way the Queen is in residence less than 200 yards from this amazing hotel. Just wow! This hotel is jam-packed with hidden treasures and eye-catching designs, that enhance its beauty. I was there to attend a Careers and Networking event, the facilities are beautiful and well presented with large flexible spaces and multiple offerings from the board room to the welcome grand hall with a stage if required. Plus a good parking facility, with automated gates, handy with the British weather. Overall, a great stay that was an experience. Thank you all so much.

Excellent staff

We’re enjoying our stay at the Travelodge Windsor and cannot fault the staff here. Junaid & Andzelika acted so swiftly and efficiently when my 6 year old done a disappearing act. They immediately started scanning the hotel in a synchronised system covering every floor and found her at another door on the wrong floor. They were very reassuring and couldn’t have acted quicker. Massive thanks to them for resolving an awful situation so quickly. Very quick thinking and complete calmness from them both. Much appreciated.

Malmaison Reading

The brief encounter, that fleeting glance from across the platform, a longing to be with the one you shouldn't...Meet me outside the station at this gloriously converted rail hotel. You shouldn't have this much fun so close to Heathrow, but you will at Mal. You shouldn't find a train set in your room, or a bath big enough for two, for that matter.

Mal just gets better and better… Thank you

The ambiance and general mood of the place is always on point. THE STEAK IS UNREAL… will be back for another stay, juicy steak and delicious cocktails soon. Thanks Mal ?
