Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye [ˈtyɾcije]), officially the Republic of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Cumhuriyeti [ˈtyɾcije d͡ʒumˈhuɾijeti] ( listen)), is a transcontinental country in Eurasia, mainly in Anatolia in Western Asia, with a smaller portion on the Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries with Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, the Azerbaijan and Iran to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the south. The country is encircled by seas on three sides with the Aegean Sea to the west, the Black Sea to the north, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. The Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles, which together form the Turkish Straits, divide Thrace and Anatolia and separate Europe and Asia. Ankara is the capital while Istanbul is the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre, classified as a leading global city.

I love wine tasting, and when I found the opportunity to do it in Bodrum I hopped on it! A small family winery which operates from the basement. I took the Dolmus bus there from city center very easy and only 3lira or 40 cents. I emailed the host to see if I was the only one who booked and I was which I was OK with it. When I arrived she had invited her friends and we had such a great time, meetings locals, having good wine and conversation. She said I was the first guest since March. We had such a delicious mezze cooked by her mom. A true local experience to end my trip in Turkey! And her friends were so kind enough to drop me off in the city center as well. And best believe I brought a bottle of wine home! The price is a bit steep compared to the Turkish Lira but in US Dollars was worth it!

This gorgeous little charming vineyard must be one of Bodrums best kept secrets! My daughter had arranged & booked this as a special birthday surprise for me during our week long holiday in Bodrum Turkey. We were picked up promptly from our hotel, Our driver was very polite and knowledgeable, giving us the history of the villages we past through. Upon arrival we were met personally by the wonderful chef and host who explained and showed us the machinery/process of the wine and about how the owner in her retirement came to making the delectable wines. We were given our first glass of tasty rose wine and were shown to our seats in the dining room where the open fire was lit and the views/sunset from the terrace were amazing. The food was absolutely fantastic paired with awesome wines, especially loved the goats cheese and the homemade Lemoncello! Here i will admit to not being a great lover of red wine in the past however the Karnas Red Zindafel Wine completely converted me. Overall this is a truly enchanting memorable experience and i highly recommend everyone to visit Karnas Vineyard at least once!

The Gemici family makes traditional Turkish wines with both native and noble varieties which you can find in their lovely shop alongside jams, soaps, and other homemade items. The wines are fresh and easy, great for pairing with the Aegean foods! I especially like the Sultaniye and the Aya Katrina. .
