A great place to stay
Reviewed By tomjonWe stayed here for a week in early September. The hotel overlooked the bay, the view from the balcony was beautiful. The pool was large and the beach was private. Breakfast was excellent, you made orange juice with real oranges in a machine, the choice was wide for food, almost anything you can think of. The staff were excellent, your room could be cleaned daily or every two days according to your preferences. Although the hotel is a little old, it was by far the best hotel we have stayed in Crete

The drive to the property was glorious. The views from the property beautiful. Breakfast amazing,food in the restaurant equally so. Cannot praise this establishment enough. Go if you can.

Reviewed By lalotta3000We love Poppy Villas! Amazing view, beautifully furnished and very clean villas and flats, the world's best looked after pool, top location, awesome beach... We have just been to Poppy Villas for the second time after we already stayed there in 2018 and it is a place we always want to come back to. The Poppy family is making a huge effort to look after their place and it is such a pleasure to stay there. Its only a few steps down to the beach, there is a good place to eat and a little shop. And everyone is so friendly. Perfect holiday.

Istron Villas is a project consisting of 9 villas cascading elegantly down the hill on eastern side of Istron bay which they share with the neighboring hotel and 3 more terraced maisonettes in the village of Istron facing the sea over a wide olive grove. A 3 minute drive separates these two establishments. All villas and houses own their own private pool and have been built with an eye to providing privacy and comfort to the guests. A dedicated restaurant operates in the bay villas but also caters for the needs of the guests residing in the village
Fantastic family holiday
Reviewed By 156JamesM156We stayed for a week in Villa Dimitris and had the most fantastic family holiday. The location is perfect, a short stroll to the beach but high enough to provide the most fantastic views and a nice breeze in the heat of the day. Our hosts could not have been more helpful and welcoming - Dimitris was incredibly friendly, helpful and responsive to any query, and his father Andonis cooked us wonderful food (our 3 boys loved his breakfast spread which he started to tailor to their tastes without us mentioning). All of the staff there made us feel very relaxed (shout out to Bo for gifting us the inflatable Stork!). Our 2 bedroom villa was very comfortable and well equipped - certainly not fancy but perfect for us, with comfortable beds, decent bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The star of the show was the outside space: we spent many happy hours in and out of the pool and lounging around enjoying the views and the tranquility. The pool was salt water which only meant our boys (7, 4 and 3) learned to keep their mouths shut when jumping in, and they wore goggles. The beach of the Istron Bay Hotel is beautiful and was quiet when we were there (5 min downhill walk) but as with all the beaches we went to in Crete there was sadly some plastic in the water and on the sand but the hotel were good at trying to clear it. Hotel sunloungers and umbrellas are free to use. The hotel has a large swimming pool, a beach bar, small shop and 2 restaurants which are all at your disposal. We didn't eat there so can't recommend either way. The hotel had outdoor entertainment most evenings (9pm-10pmish) which you can hear from the patio of the villa - it tended to be for an hour or so and not too late but it didn't spoil our enjoyment of this wonderful place. One tip is to use Anna-Maria at Istron Top Cars for car hire, a fantastic and hassle free service which meant not waiting at the carhire desks at the airport. They are based in the Istron Bay hotel. Voulisma Beach in Istron village (5 min drive) was superb. A beautiful bay with the beach set down away from the road and with all amenities including drinks and food to your sunlounger. 2 beds and umbrella were EUR15 for the day, get there early (pre 10am) if you want a decent spot but we spent 2 full days there, our boys loved playing in the surf. All in all a wonderful holiday in a beautiful and peaceful location. We booked direct with the owners which was considerably cheaper than through any other third party websites. Dimitris, Andonis and all your family and staff thank you for making it such a memorable experience. We will be back!

Watch out! Careless with yr payment

Booked for a stay with them via Booking.com and 1/ they immediately charged my card, which was not part of the booking conditions, 2/ for a higher amount that the original price. I canceled the room within 24 hours free of charge, 3/ but after >7 days they did not refund me, despite writing them, they then pretended this was either not a correct information from me ("are you sure you booked with us" literally) or had clarity on the situation, they asked me to prove them the charge was real or to send them my CC details (big red flag too). It was only after forwarding them banking proof that they blamed an employee mistake, who according to them mistook my name for another (seeing my very complex name I wonder if they discovered relatives unbeknown to me) an excuse message but still no money after several days (while refund is immediate on any credit card once the order is given). Strangely after formally complaining to the website ans writing to Elounda Vista Villa, they sent me a copy of the refund made after my messages, and insulted me too. (In attachment their pathetic excuse pretending that the date on their eventual refund was made earlier than my messages to them) Still waiting for the refund and hope that booking.com eventually delist them for good. I would avoid this venue, they are either unprofessional with your banking details or at very worst real scammers.

Reviewed By Clare CThis was such a wonderful little place to stay. We would never have stopped had it not been recommended by some natives in Lyttos near Heraklion. The room was superb - comfortable and clean. The bed was divine (and very welcome after climbing the hills on road bike that day!) The food was absolutely delicious. We ended up having lunch and dinner there and then breakfast in the same place and were utterly spoiled every time. Superb local ingredients and very amble and unbelievable value. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

Reviewed By janetmEssexEnglandWe booked Villa Melia with Villaplus and have had a lovely holiday. Everything was really clean and contained everything we needed - it was hard to tear ourselves away. Eating out was very reasonable and there are plenty of choices. The view was spectacular and the road nearby was not a problem, the local supermarkets provided the basics, plus a few extras and once again prices were good. The villa was thoroughly cleaned twice each week with linen and towels changed too. The pool was superb and enjoyed by us all.

Reviewed By ANDRES RThe hotel needs some investment on the rooms which are a bit old. The AC should not point towards the beds head. It's a shame because it's impossible to use it at night. They need to provide more towels and put more sockets to plug more stuff On the other hand. They switch the sprinklers on at night. I think they should reprogram them right away because it woke me up at 2, 5 and 8 AM The staff is perfect. Super friendly they gonna help you with anything you need. It's easy to park and the whole place is beautiful. The pool and it's views are great and the breakfast is okay.

End of summer holiday
Reviewed By MICHAIL KOur room had a fantastic sea view (as do all the apartments). There is a good sized swimming pool for anyone who doesn't want to walk the 100 m to the beach. The apartments are roomy, clean and have cooking facilities. Breakfast and dinner are offered daily and each meal has copious amounts of food. For those that want to go to town, there is a bus stop in front. Eleni and her daughter Xenia make all the guests feel at home and ensure a pleasant vacation.
