High in the cool hills, this colonial gem of cobblestone streets and picturesque churches inspires artists with its color, character and light. Baroque, neoclassical and neogothic mix in the city's buildings, notably at the pink stone 18th-century church on the Plaza Principal. Founded in 1542, the city is a mix of Hispanic and Mesoamerican influences.

All guest rooms are in a unique home surrounded by swaying palms. The Guesthouse has a total of five rooms that comfortably sleep up to two people in each room. One bed per room. All with luxurious private baths, flat screen televisions (with cable and NETFLIX), safe and purified drinking water from faucets, and coffee and tea makers.
This was my second visit to San Miguel. On the first I learned that the town center was easily accessible by an inexpensive taxi ride or even safely on foot from the outlying neighborhoods. The Oasis in in one of those. I was able to take advantage of the sights and offerings of the city during the day and evening and return to a quiet, peaceful neighborhood across from a delightful neighborhood park. Plenty of outdoor common space allowed me to write in the evening while enjoying chilled wine I bought in town and stored in the guest outdoor refrigerator. I would like to emphasize that this is NOT a hotel. This is a Bed&Breakfast or Guest House. I'm not sure how common this is in Mexico, but it is always my first choice of accommodation when traveling in Europe, Canada or the US. I don't want room service, but rather the comforts of home. For me, there was one difference from staying at home. My bed was more comfortable and I had cool air drifting in through screened balcony doors during the night. I rarely even heard the many birds singing in the morning.

My family & I have lived in Mexico for 9 months and take mini vacations throughout Mexico. Our stay at Don Quijote has been the WORST. When vacationing, the hotels we choose impact our entire vacation - so choose wisely! Unfortunately as soon as we walked in and met the staff, our hearts sank. We immediately knew we made a MISTAKE. First, this hotel is far from Centro Historico - about a 12 min up-hill walk. The hotel is in a remote part of the city. and the walk back at night is uneasy and discomforting. Second, the hotel is NOT pet-friendly. Mexico is one of the most pet-friendly countries in the world! We rescued a 3-month old mini Chihuahua last month that we carry in a sling carrier. He does not bark and is potty trained. Management fined us $800 Pesos for the one night we stayed there because of the dog. This is fraud. The room was underwhelming. For the price, you expect the room to have a mini-refrigerator. Nope! The food in SMA is delicious, so if you bring back leftovers, there is no refrigerator to store it. No ice-maker in the hotel either. When I asked for ice, maintenance served me ice in an old yogurt container he found in a bottom shelf at the bar. The room was HOT since the AC did not work properly! It was a sweaty night. The TV did not work either. I wanted to watch the Canelo fight, but the channel had no sound! Maintenance told us to just deal with it. I write this review to warn others not to stay here. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE WE DID. Stay elsewhere!

Beautiful hotel with wonderful breakfast, impeccable rooms and unique style with a lot of history and architecture preserved. Cecilia is an excellent hostess, friendly and very sensitive. The hotel is a reflection of Cecilia's delicacy and artistic look.

When you arrive you will most likely have to ring the buzzer for access into the hacienda. This put's you at ease and feels very safe from the moment you enter the premises. We were welcomed by the receptionist who was very nice and showed us to our rooms and also gave us a tour of the grounds. The rooms are very nice and have all the amenities that you will need. Breakfast was amazing and I would definitely recommend you trying it. You will have to reserve this the night prior before . It comes out to about 5 USD for breakfast. We stayed here for a wedding and I would definitely come back. If you are needing to go downtown the cheapest way is to take the bus that says routa 8 or 9. This will get you downtown for about 8 pesos.

It was a nice stay and the staff was very kind. You need a car to go to downtown but the price is very reasonable for the location! We found a dirty toilet and you can hear everything that is happening in the rooms beside.

Beautiful former home transformed into a boutique hotel. Staff was extremely courteous and accommodating. Very comfortable room and bed/bedding. Great breakfast included. Easy walk to the central square. Highly recommended!

This home has 3 bedrooms, 2 with en-suite bathrooms, and tons of storage space including full a wall of cabinets and a dresser. The 3rd has a bathroom right next to it in the hall. It doesn't have a closet or a dresser. I stayed in the small room for about a week and found it doable for the budget conscious person. The home is nicely decorated, and has a tiny courtyard with an original to the home well. There is a washer and dryer available. Although the dryer was not functioning during my stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with plates, utensils, pots, pans, glasses etc. There is a blender, microwave, and kettle. Also a full sized fridge and stove for everyone to share. The only thing that may be an issue is that the neighbors are a bit noisy and have dogs that bark quite a bit. I invested in earplugs and had no problems sleeping. I loved staying in this home and hopefully will be able to return soon.

Casa Aliz is a little hotel right in the heart of San Miguel located in one of the most beautiful streets. The hotel is only two blocks from the main square where you re gonna find all the restaurants, bars and museums.
Casa Aliz was exactly what we needed for our one night stay before we checked into a larger Airbnb. Our room (the king bed with a pull out couch) was generously sized and worked well for the 3 of us (2 adults, and a 4 year old). Note - it is on the ground floor facing the street, but it honestly wasn’t that noisy. Everything seemed very clean, the staff was helpful and you couldn’t ask for a better location - in a quieter part of Centro just off the beautiful Parque Juarez. For the reviews with complaints, I’m not sure what one expects for under $100 per night but we thought it was a great value.
