Fantastic price, room, and location

Just one block from the Main Street facing Gyeongpo...2 Min access to the beach in the front or the lake at the rear. Convenience stores, coffee shops, and restaurants are walking distance. Pleasant surprise to have breakfast - not a western size but sufficient (salad, toast, sausage, espresso) and free beverage dispenser with sodas/juice/ice coffees! Beds were one of the most comfortable we’ve slept in in Korea. Bedding was fluffy and beds were hard as a rock. Lots of space for a fam of 4. Very clean room and bathroom. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were good quality - smelled great and my hair felt really good. Large tub in the suite room along with separate shower. Staff had limited English but were friendly and willing to help. Even used a translator app when I had a question about dishes (my Hangul is not so good). I would easily stay here again!

What an Excellent Find!!

Reviewed By Hannisze

We (3 couples) have to be in Cheongju for a family wedding. The wedding hotel (Grand Plaza Cheogju) is too far from the city centre and too expensive for the use of just a few hours sleep. So, we decided to look around for a hotel which is more reasonably priced and located in the city centre. We found this little gem through our search on TA. We were a bit sceptical in the beginning, because they aren't many reviews on the hotel (especially in English). However, there were a few very positive reviews on Booking.com, so, we went ahead an booked 3 superior rooms. We were very surprised when we arrived!! The condition and facilities of this hotel way exceeded our expectations! Location is very central to the shopping district and market (with restaurants) of the city. We couldn't find any fault with it. Although the staff spoke only limited English, they were very friendly and helpful. They were so generous and hospitable, becasue a lot of snacks and drinks were provided for free from the lobby and also in the little fridge in the room! Really, really unexpected and highly recommended. I have included some photos of the room to show how awesome this place is!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Casual House Sono. I had a spacious private en-suite room on the 3rd floor, which was pretty basic but had everything I needed for my short stay in Daegu. Toiletries were provided and replenished when I asked for more. The staff were very welcoming, and considering I don’t speak any Korean we were able to communicate effectively. The hotel is a good 8 minutes walk from both Myeongdeok & Banwoldang metro stations, and I’d probably say around 20 minutes (depending on how fast you walk) to the main shopping/eating hub of Daegu. I did not use the laundry facilities here, but my friend did, and she had no complaints. Considering this hotel is also a hostel, it is incredibly quiet and I was not disturbed by any noise. If you’re looking for decent accommodation which is good value for money, then I would highly recommend that you stay here.

People can make or break a situation. Well this hotel is hosted by Mi Jeong, Oh or Mio for short. She is friendly, informative and speaks great English - she helped make our stay! Rooms here are large with very nice showers. There is a lack of storage in the rooms. Breakfast is the best out of the 4 hotels we stayed in whilst in S Korea. Location is perfect, right in the middle of the action. Very clean and well serviced. Only minus is the late check in time...6pm.

Lovely Hotel, Nice Location

We were extremely happy with our stay at Hotel Iam. The room was very clean and comfortable, but a bit small. There was free breakfast every morning and a beautiful rooftop deck. The hotel was very close to the bus stop and the beautiful path that runs along the river. We would definitely stay here again.

Great value and location but a bit noisy

Reviewed By Dan & Sarah K

We stayed for three nights here and were happy with our stay overall. The location is excellent with the metro just a few minutes walk and an amazing cake shop next to the Nike store (take exit 6 from the underground shopping centre and you’re right there). We had asked for a high level room and were given one on the top floor but it smelt heavily of smoke but the hotel did change it without question. The second room wasn’t as nice in that the window looked out to an alley so the room was quite dark but as we knew we wouldn’t be in the room much anyway this wasn’t too much of an issue. The room was clean and comfortable and fresh water was provided each day. The bathroom was a bit of a wet room capsule in the middle of the room with mostly frosted glass but not all of it was so you’d best be close to your room mate! Breakfast was simple but seemed to be consistent with other places we stayed on our trip (toast, cornflakes, coffee, great yoghurts). Biggest issue we had was noise from other guests coming back to their rooms late making noise and doors slamming. Also the room was generally quite warm at 24 degrees which we couldn’t seem to change. There were laundry facilities but we didn’t use them.

A very good hotel!

Reviewed By PDM77059

I was skeptical at first that this hotel was a good place to stay, but took the chance anyway. I found much to recommend here after two nights in room 302. This is a 6 story property located 6 miles from Incheon airport. It has a free shuttle available on call or via the information desk in the airport if you do not have a phone. The shuttle is only scheduled to leave from the hotel back to the airport before noon, but management had no problem setting one (free) up for later in the day. There is always at least one person who is an excellent english speaker on duty at the front desk, regardless of the time of day or night. In our room we had plenty of charging ports for the free wifi that worked quite well. There was a brief power outage lasting 3 minutes but otherwise no issues. This mid-range hotel has a fridge, mobile heater near the bed, a closet with 5 hangers, hair dryer, boxes of Kleenex, desk, sofa, big flat screen TV (though only one English channel); there is no microwave, clock or safe. I was impressed that the staff would really help us out; they even fixed the squeak on our rolling bag without charge. It seemed to us that the floor was radiating heat but the portable heater worked really well. There are hardwood floors and the view out the window is only of the next building so it is basically no view at all. We had one king bed; it is a little hard but we had no problems sleeping comfortably. There is also a separate wifi router for every room insuring good reception. Room design: separate room only for the toilet and a huge roll of toilet paper that never runs out. There is a separate bathroom that contains a shower area and a tub shower combination. We used the latter and it was excellent. There is a small ante room after you open the door to the room. That little room is where you place your key card to keep power to the lights. It also helps keep external noise out of the room. The hotel has a breakfast area (no other meals) below the main floor and there is also an elevator but it will not go down to that level. It only takes the shuttle about 20 minutes to travel the short distance to the airport but we encountered no traffic problems. Breakfast is extra cost for 7000 Won/$USD7 and we found it pretty good. It was a combination of Korean and American style fare. If we return to Seoul in the future, we would definitely come back again. RECOMMENDATION TO HOTEL; Although the hotel says they have one floor dedicated to smokers (floor 6), we often smelled smoke in our hall 3 floors below. I suspected, but cannot confirm, that housekeeping staff may be smokers and caused this. it appeared on both days. They should do everything they can to fix this problem.
