Great View! Poor breakfast!

Reviewed By Sam O

This hotel is bang in the central area of Abuja. While this hotel offers some great views of the city at the upper levels, it could do with some upgrades/renovations, as some of the bathroom fixtures are getting rusty and old. I stayed in this hotel with a friend. We were told only one of us could get complementary breakfast! The breakfast itself isn't buffet, you just say what you want from a show glass, and you'd be served. You can't decide the portions and all. The staff are downright rude and they never get solve issues. The internet is HORRIBLE. You'd struggle to open webpages on your notebook. Overall, the hotel is decent, but there are opportunities to do so much better!

I am thrilled by the hospitality that I am receiving in this hotel right now, from the reception, the cleaners and more especially the food they make and serve. I was nervous before my arrival because of the negative comments about Nigerian hotels but after my check-in till the next morning,I feel more relaxed and comfortable and I am going to spend more 4 nights here,The receiption guy that worked in the afternoon was too nice and friendly. I will recommend some of local dishes to anyone that loves good food.

Nothing worked here. The wifi didn't work at all. The restaurant was slow, had nothing in stock, no coffee. Rooms dilapidated. We stayed only a few hours between connecting flights, but would never come back, it was beyond poor.

Business trip for Conference in Abuja

Reviewed By BenjaminNathans

The hotel is quiet and secured. It is owned by the DSS and operated by an outsourced hotel service provider. The hotel is situated in the ECOWAS/World Bank area of Asokoro. This makes it quiet. The hotel is secured by armed guards who are DSS agents. The security is one thing that stands the hotel apart. The staff are highly courteous. Breakfast is complementary but the food is not impressive: prepare to eat out a lot. The rooms are not fitted with modern equipment. You might run into a broken air-conditioner or microwave in your room. The doors are not fitted with magnetic-stripe/chip enabled keys; you have to enter your room using the good ol' fashioned metal key. The hotel is clean and the wi-fi works. The amenities generally are not modern but if you need a place where you want to sleep with two eyes closed, Kapital Klub is the place.

One very big Oaky Nightmare

Reviewed By EzeeTravelConsult

This was a total nightmare experience. First we arrived after a long tiring flight and were told we had no booking because the hotel has no dealings with Expedia! We stood outside totally frustrated for a long time. After that was sorted, we were given a room that was not what we paid for and it was another level of stress and shouting until we were transferred to the right room. Then it was everything in the room seemed broken from air conditioning to lights to wardrobe doors to bedside tables. The list is endless. Then it was poor housekeeping, maintenance and horrible customer services. Even tissues and other basic standard supplies were not available in the room. The staff were mostly nice but they really didn’t have much to work with. The next nightmare was we were charged for breakfast even though we prepaid for this. We were assured iron and ironing board in the room but refused same unless we paid for laundry services. Throughout our stay there was no internet service and we had to pay privately for internet access. We also had no keys to our own room and had to ask a staff to let us in every time! The worst of it was the fact that the hotel actually hired out the room above ours as a function hall and the noise nuisance was simply unquantifiable and irrespective of our furious complaints nothing was done about it as the party ravers were so unruly and somewhat beyond reproach or control of the hotel staff that tried. We ended up with serious migraine. The list of things that went wrong is endless. Our dream wedding anniversary hotel booking was ruined thanks to Expedia and 1 Oak place. The manager kept promising to make it up to us but didn’t. The place seems to have been a great place before but the owners appear to have lost interest in keeping up standards as even the most basic things are lacking. We are so shocked and disappointed that Expedia would actually market and send valued clients like us to such a hellish place. Can’t imagine going back there!
