Reviewed By kayj562We can say all the good things like the hotel is clean, well kept and pretty much what you want and expect when you travel. Which is true about this hotel. It is safe and the view is beautiful. The BIG picture is the people that take making our stay warm, comfortable and personable. Javier,Constanta,Carolina, Constanta, Nicol and others are some of the best people we have had the pleasure to be with. Even though we are from Texas and my Spanish was terrible they were very helpful and took ownership to make me feel as a valued person. It’s hard to find this many caring people in one place like this. My suggestion to anyone that comes to Iquique needs to stay here you will not regret the stay. There is families and business people here. Everyone is treated with individual attention and care. Thank you for a wonderful experience and hope y’all are here when we return.

Gavina Hotel Group made one of the biggest and mayor renovations of northern Chile hotel industry, with a big monetary investment. We are waiting for you, with brand new rooms and suites, bars, restaurant, lobby, and a unique and only one in the city infinity pool, and even brand new elevators. Also we have 7 Meeting Rooms, with a capacity from 10 to over 1000 people. That's why we are more than just a hotel.
Nice Hotel, lacking 5 star service
Reviewed By Steve SNice location with a beautiful ocean view from the endless pool where birds of all types dip in for a quick drink.,The breakfast / dinning room ceiling to floor all glass view is one of the best I have seen in Iquique. The buffet (included in the room) has the typical selections of items. Tea and Cafe are included but if you ask for something extra, like an espresso , expect to pay additional for it. The rooms are clean and as appear in the photos, The staff spoke little english and when consulted for VAS services like bike rental, or scooters, were of no help. We went for my daughters 12th B day and apart form parasailing, I wanted to make her day special by coordinating some balloons and soft drinks out of the pool deck. It could not be organized I was told. No big deal however I would have expected for 5 start "service" for the price of the hotel. Parking was available however extremely limited. They will find space for you however, once again, not a 5 start expienrece

Totally disappointed
Reviewed By TanD145I booked this hotel for my honeymoon 2 weeks in advance thinking I had made the right choice; clearly I was wrong. I will start with the good stuff: the room was clean. Now the bad: Our room had the shower door broken, so water would flood the bathroom. We booked a sea view room, which was more expensive, but the window was dirty from the inside and outside. The A/C was busted and I complained the moment I got in, but no one came to fix it or apologized. The bar had no decent drinks aside from standard Stoli and a standard Beefeater. No tonic water, which is a no-no. I asked them to go and buy and they said they had "procedures to follow" and couldn't. Overall the hotel was very dirty in places that could have clearly been well cleaned with ease (like the elevator which had sticky glue and dust). I went to the front desk and expressed all this, and I still got no one to fix the A/C, buy tonic water or give me any kind of apology or compensation, not even a late checkout on Sunday because our flight was at 7 PM and it was our honeymoon and I bought the whole trip as a package at a travel agent (Viajes Falabella). Stay away from this place.

Good city hotel, comfortable & clean
Reviewed By J BHotel Diego de Almagro was built in 2012 and offers 184 rooms over 12 floors. The hotel is located in Cavancha, close to the University. At walking distance you find the Ocean boulevard and the beach. Staffs are welcoming and friendly. We had a spacious non-smoking room with desk & chair, wardrobe & safe, flat screen TV, minibar fridge, an good queen size bed, and a separate bathroom with washbasin, toilet & shower over the bath. Free Wi-Fi internet. All was clean. We came in July, wintertime and obviously there was no-one in the pool. The hotel mainly has Chilean guests, often families, we found that a good sign. The window can be opened. The complimentary buffet breakfast is OK. After a tour to the Isluga National Park we wanted to warm up in the sauna and found it already reserved. Make sure you reserve the sauna in due time. We would recommend Hotel Diego de Almagro to anyone who likes a good nights’ sleep in a comfortable city-hotel.

Our room (for 3 adults) was very comfortable, quite spacious and clean (actually cleaned every day of our stay). The bathroom was just 2 meters away, and the water pressure was strong and the shower hot! Breakfast was really nice. WiFi worked fine everywhere. Location is brilliant, just a stone away to the beach; also walking distance to the city center. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and there is no doubt that we will visit again next time we come to Iquique. Highly recommended!
