great hotel with good local amenities

Stayed here for the weekend while visiting town for an event. Other than the pool being cold (reg temp day though) it was fun and the Italian restaurant next door is awesome. They also have a great continental breakfast for a very reasonable charge that I would totally recommend. Would totally stay here again.

Stayed only one night, with the intention of visiting Kin Vineyards in Carp with friends. An excellent choice! Proximity to Carp is great. The "after-hours" availability of the bar and entertainment is wonderful. Super comfy beds. Clean, clean, clean! Roomy and lovely bathroom. Love the Keirig machine in the room, but did NOT like the coffee available. No big deal, really. Will stay again.

Disappointed. Top dollar prices but most of the facilities were unavailable.

Reviewed By Mike P

We booked three nights in the Radisson Blu, a couple of weeks ago at the beginning of our recent Canadian holiday. It looked great on the web site and was very well located for the wedding that we attended on the first Saturday of our trip. Accommodation costs in downtown Toronto are sky high and the Radisson Blu was no exception. We justified the cost to ourselves by the sumptuous facilities that had been advertised, and still are advertised at this property. When we arrived, we were extremely disappointed to find that the advertised leisure facilities were all closed. We had not been previously advised that the roof top pool would be closed and the restaurant and bar alongside also being unavailable. There was no reduction in the price because of this. No apology. No excuse. No cost reduction. In addition, for much of our stay, only one of the two lifts that serve the bedroom floors was serviceable. We sometimes had to wait a long while for the lift to arrive. On checking in, the front desk took quite a hefty "security deposit" from my credit card and when we got to our room, there was a large gouge in the door jamb where somebody must have used a gemmy to try to force entry. The room safe did not work and I took a photo of the door damage as I did not want to be held responsible for it. I went back to the reception desk and thankfully a lady who was in charge took ownership of our problem. I was unhappy about the room and I was unhappy that despite having paid full price, the advertised facilities were not available. We had not received any previous notification that this would be the case. She moved our room and gave us some vouchers for breakfast (if you could call it that) in the Starbucks-like coffee shop in the foyer. Top dollar hotel, breakfast out of cardboard cups and disposable cutlery but our thanks are sent to this member of staff who endeavoured to make matters better. In fairness, the pool was re-opened on the second day of our stay and very nice it was too. The bar/restaurant alongside remained closed for the duration of our stay. That was not the end of the problems with this property. It is clear that little attention is given towards the day to day maintenance of the place. In our second room, we found the safe was working, but had been left locked. The front desk called "engineering" and it took them nearly 24 hours to respond. There were trivial things around and about that could have easily been fixed, for example the handles on the glass door to our shower were rattling loose, the fridge unit in our room had a wonky door and as said, one of the two lifts was out of service for much of our stay. Having a good technician on site, with an attention to detail could have made the place so much better. Finally, our concerns about security. Having seen clear evidence of an attempted break in to a room, this caused some worry. There was a full time security person in the lobby which, the need for it in itself is a cause for concern. A different person every day, but never once were we challenged or checked by them as we came and went. So, would I recommend the Radisson Blu? It is very good for location but did not provide what was advertised and was rapidly becoming dilapidated and shabby. They charged top prices but did not come up with the goods or service to reflect that cost. We felt ripped off. There are lots of upmarket hotels in the vicinity and my advice would be to give the Radisson Blu a wide berth and if you need to stay downtown, go to one of the others instead. I won't be returning.

Out of date for the price

Reviewed By GlobeTrotting642645

The hotel is out of date. The elevators are horribly slow, room service took over 2 hours and the "whirpool" tub was so small and shallow it felt like it was made for a kid. There were no robes in the room and there was paint peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom. For the price it was very disappointing. That being said the location is excellent and the view was great.

Empty promise for crib in the room

Reviewed By Macydingdingding

I’ve booked a night stay at the hotel for the Victoria Weekend. The cost was almost $700 for the night stay and the waterpark package with my husband and two of my kids. When I made the reservation, I made sure I’ve entered a note to have a crib ready and available when I arrive the hotel. I’ve also called a few days ahead of time to ensure that the request was in the system. Before I left my house, another call was made to sure the crib will be available. All the responses I had received from the representative were yes, it would be available. I got to the hotel at 4ish, when I entered the room, no sight of the crib. I called the front desk and asked for the crib. I got rollaway bed and I was told that’s what u have requested. I have a 9 month old baby with me, and I was so disappointed and in distressed. If I knew the crib won’t be available, I could have made my own arrangement. But we tried to make it work, so I asked to take away the frame of the rollaway bed and placed the rollaway mattress between the two queen beds to prevent my son from falling off the bed. I was also concerned about increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome as the mattress of the rollaway bed appeared to be very soft. Then my son fell from the mattress when I was using the washroom, away from him for 2 mins. I tried calling again, but all they could do was to put my name on the waiting list. Fortunately, my friend who stayed at the Skyline Hotel, had provided them with a crib, so they gave us their pack and play for the night. I was told by the housekeeping, that this hotel fits more than 700 hotel rooms, only have 20ish cribs. I rated the experience poor when the hotel asked for a review. A representative has emailed me back and told me a manager would call me to inquire about my experience and that never did happen either. I did like everything else, the room was clean, and view was magnificent. Because of this experience and the fact that they gave us empty promises, I do not want to return to this hotel again; as the price was not cheap and I feel that the customers request should have been more valued.
