Ai-Aiba The Rock Painting Lodge

Situated between Usakos and Omaruru amidst massive granite boulders overlooking the magnificent Erongo Mountain Range is AiAiba Lodge. The Erongo Region is one of the most environmentally diverse areas in Namibia, hosting an array of endemic and near-endemic plant, reptile, mammal and bird species, as well as a wealth of cultural artefacts. Twenty thatched-roof twin bedrooms, tastefully appointed en-suite shower, offer the visitor a unique, luxurious African experience. The restaurant with its panoramic view, bar and crystal-clear pool nestling amount the rocks add to the natural tranquillity of the surroundings.

Driving up to Ai Aiba after a long day with dirt roads was such a breath of fresh air. It is charming and beautiful. It feels intimate and private and welcoming straight away, and the landscape is dynamic and gorgeous. The staff were incredibly kind. The food was delicious, the sundowner hike with drinks on the mountain was fun and stunning. The room is charming, well equipped, and comfortable. We were told by our agent that there isn't too much to do and one night would be enough but honestly we were so sad to wake up and leave early--we wanted to enjoy a leisurely day to reset and recharge with a walk around, some pool time, a good book, great food, and kind people. Strongly recommend if you want a nice place to reset!

Good but staff needs training

We stayed for 2 nights for work in the region. They offer a 5-10% covid discount which is a lot less than most places in Namibia at the moment, but take it or leave it I guess. This is one of the more upmarket places in Omaruru town and that shows in the price. The rooms are however big and spotless. Very good beds and surroundings. Good wifi. The food is excellent in its class. But.. Annoying was the miscommunication on the phone about the price of the family room before arrival. Although some staff is good, others need service and language training as they are just not ready to communicate with guests and also don't try. I am leaning towards 3.5 stars which is not an option and the constant miscommunication with some staff, sulky faces, breakfast being late despite us being the almost only guests (paying good money in a downtime) would make 4 stars a stretch. The potential is there though! Definitely give it a try.

A relaxing oasis with great pool and garden

Reviewed By suewL9337BT

We (2 local Namibians) spent two nights in a self catering chalet. Loved the sparklingly clean pool and well kept surrounding garden. A true oasis in the desert! We spent time walking on the farm, saw Springbok, guinea fowl and interesting birdlife. Enjoyed reading on the comfy lounger chairs around the pool. A totally relaxing time. Friendly staff. Definitely a place to which we will return.

Omaruru bush camp

Reviewed By Excursion08288425889

Great stopover with knowledgeable hosts both with a lifetime Namibian experience - bush camping well spread out and rooms large and spacious under cool thatch roofing - bird life well worth the effort and not far from Omaruru for provisions. When not self catering (kitchenette well equipped), the breakfast and dinner are superb!
