Another great New Year and skiing trip

We've been to HO as a family for many years in winter and summer. It is one of our favourite places and has a lovely friendly and comfortable feel - pure relaxation. This year the food was even better - such attention to detail on every dish (congrats to the two young chefs) and the sauna ceremonies with scented ice were a daily treat after the slopes. The whole HO team (from the owner to the cleaners) work so hard and it shows in the quality and service. Love it

Magical

Reviewed By pcf

We just spent a lovely few days over Christmas at this hotel. The place itself is quite magical, joverlooking a small lake and snow added to the fairytale atmosphere. We had a large comfortable room and access to pool and wellness center. Everywhere was spotless and the design is modern yet very cosy. Dinner and breakfast were a real treat with a large variety of dishes changing everyday. Staff spoke good English though most notices and leaflets were in German. Lots of skiing slopes a few minutes away by car. We would definitely be back!

A new and clean 4 star hotel let-down by disappointing small bedroom area of room

Reviewed By peterkolek

The hotel is located close to restaurants and centre of beautiful village of Oberstdorf. The hotel is a 4 star hotel so my expectations were higher. Expectations were met by the excellent buffet breakfast BUT the sleeping and "living area" of the single room I had was disappointing: There was not enough space on the floor to even lay-down my suitcase to open it with ease; and The single bed I had was too narrow, even though the Management commented that I actually had been "upgraded without cost" and that I had the "larger" single bed, after I raised my criticism. Like most hotels in Bavaria, a negative are the "flat" bed cushions, which, even if you use 2, both collapse as your head rests on them thus not providing the head support you need for good sleep

A really special hotel, alas it is no more

A re-union with friends for a 3 day visit to Oberstdorf, Bavaria, Germany.

This hotel is situated in a promently good position in the town. The rooms are clean and are of adequet size. The first problem is that there is no hotel parking or anywhere near in the town. A carpark pass is given for one of the 2 carparks some 20 minutes walk from the hotel, a local bus service free of charge with the hotel pass is available but if you walk down to the main bus teminus and there is no bus, then is is advisable to walk the rest of the way. Service personell didnt seem very friendly except for a girl from Greece who we found very helpfull. Maybe its the extra stress with Corona, but this should not be accepted. The bar in a 4 star hotel is usually stocked well with supplies, but after asking for Cointreau to go in my coffee it was not available. The breakfast buffet, hosted something I have never seen in a hotel. There was a small buffet whether this is due to the Corona I do not know. We had to line up in the restaurant awaiting our turn, the person serving was really incapable of doing the job. firstly in the morning you expect to be greeted with 'good morning' in any languague and as I got near the buffet I was watching him with silcon gloves, hand picking meats whatever the guest wanted, then picking up cheese the picking up salad pieces, tomatoes, paprika etc then placing your bread on a plate. All using the same gloved hand for everything. I think this is most unhygenic to say the least thinking of vegitarians as an example contaminting the Vegitablees with meat. I have had a bistro in Austria for over ten years and know this is not acceptable in Austria. A seperate serving tool should be with every dish to avoid contamination. When I saw this I had one Bread roll went to my place and ordered a fried egg with the waitress which came from the kitchen. The second day I ordered scrambled eggs with a bread roll from the waitress but I had to go to the buffet and wait to get my roll. When I got to my table the egg was cold so I ordered 2 fried eggs to go with my roll. Should this be allowed in a hotel?

Relaxing stay amongst mountains

Reviewed By Gus M

Just left this precious hotel with my wife after a short stay during our road trip. We went looking for an urban scape, somewhere close to nature to do some hiking and eat well. Hotel Birgsauer Hof did completely satisfy our expectations. From the dedicated staff and the welcoming installations to the most spectacular balcony view to the mountains. Breakfast offered great quality, specially the cheese and the bread. The scrambled eggs and the bacon from the buffet were really well made (and kept warm without drying out). They would prepare you fried eggs if you want it. We had dinner at the hotel once and really appreciated their hearty food. We’re already planing our next visit.
