We've been coming to this hotel over the past 10 years, and always had a good stay. But this time was the last visit, as it was not what it used to be. Never before did we have to pay for our room when checking in! No more little carton of milk for the tea, the plunger coffee that used to be a morning treat was of El Cheapo. Nothing personal from the new managers, the towels not as white as they used to, etc. And no breakfast! What a shame!

Had an excellent stay in what is an excellent facility. Warm welcome followed by a modern and spacious suite which was super clean and well set out. Electric blankets were a nice surprise as was the well-supplied kitchen. Bathroom was well set out also and handy having the washing machine and dryer right there. Surrounding area is safe and within walking distance to all shops/cafes/supermarket. Parking was easy, free and secure All in all, can’t wait to stay there again.

Great Location

Reviewed By 715cathyv

The location of the inn can't be faulted--a 5-minute walk to the ferry, and plenty of restaurants/cafes/grocery and wine stores right around the corner. A pleasant respite from Auckland's noise and traffic. Breakfast at the inn is hearty and beautifully prepared; the breakfast room is gracious and elegant. Decor reflects attention to detail. Some cons: there is no telephone in the room, Internet connections are spotty, and there are many stairs to contend with to reach the front door, so beware if you have heavy luggage, because you're carrying your own. In the Devonport room, the bathroom is incredibly small with no storage (and it could use a coat of paint); other rooms seem better equipped. Also be prepared to organized your own excursions of Auckland and the area--this service doesn't seem to be provided. The owner does care about her guests and their comfort, which you certainly don't get in larger, impersonal hotels. For those looking for a more peaceful alternative to Auckland, this is a good choice.

Run down and dirty

Reviewed By Whiterosehappylass

Room was unclean asked for a refund was told we could not have one. He said he would give us a bigger room and i explained it wasn't the size of the room although it was very small it was the fact it was dirty. He said there was no chance of a refund and gave us the keys for the room next to the original room. As he had said the room was bigger but just as dirty. The guy at receptions said they didn't have a housekeeper and were looking for one and i suggested he should clean the rooms or not rent them out. The bed was the most uncomfortable every and very old with springs poking through. Paint was peeling off the ceiling and the curtains were torn. The floors had not been vacuumed and the bathroom floor was sticky and the shower dirty. I actually wrote the date in the dust on the windowsill and on top of the bin.

Nice one night stay

Reviewed By Lynda B

We needed to stay on the North Shore for a night during a recent road trip, and chose Anzac Court after looking through TripAdvisor reviews. We booked a deluxe studio unit. We arrived at 2.40pm and checked in. We were in unit 4, with a car park outside. $189 for a night which was a fair price given we were in Auckland. The office lady was friendly. The unit was pretty small, but it had everything we needed. It was nicely appointed and very clean. There was a four-slice toaster, which was great as normally motels have two sliced ones. We make toast for our breakfast when we’re on a road trip. There were some toiletries that we were invited to take away with us, including a toothbrush/small toothpaste set and shaving kit. A nice touch. The bed was very comfortable, and it was a king sized bed. Would definitely stay here again if we’re wanting to stay on the North Shore.

Clean and tidy, great views from the dirty windows, 1990’s decor. Bed not very comfortable but the suite I stayed in was large and spacious. They didn’t do breakfast or lunch and the one meal they usually did, dinner, was cancelled as the head chef didn’t come in - do they only have cook?

Booking made over phone for room for 2 staying 2 nights Dec 30 & 31st 2021, upon arrival for check in find no booking had been recorded. No COVID questions asked no Passport request!!! They did accommodate us with a ground floor unit which was filthy, windows, blinds, shower blocked so water backed up, had to wash dishes before use. GROSS Next door unit was emergency housing, felt there was no privacy, very uncomfortable. Staff came to us on second day asking us to move to a different unit as they had obviously double booked the room, How Rude. Definitely will not be staying here ever again

Our lockdown stay at Quest Albany for two weeks

Reviewed By N8292HHbrianh

With the need for accommodation on the day before New Zealand lockdown 25/3 we did a quick search & contacted Quest Albany & so pleased we landed there! Our modern apartment was a good size for two of us, very clean, tv lounge & bedroom, kitchen area, hob, oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, separate dryer etc, etc. Reception open during the day & Dee (reception), Jim & Jun all very friendly and helpful in all aspects including offering a 2nd week (to 9/4) discount to ‘help’ with our lockdown situation! Albany such a good area with local beaches 6-8km & local supermarkets, shops, at Albany commercial centre just 3-4 minutes drive (we walked as could not hire car in lockdown!) Cafe, restaurants on the door step, but all closed of course! Quest Albany also located very near to park/wild life reserves, so really good open spaces and bush walks. Not particularly a tourist area, but for business, or base for visiting family or friends we could not have done better.

Extremely underwhelming stay

Reviewed By Jamesheke

This place is probably one of the worst Motels in the North shore now. No sky, No amenities, Cheap toaster and Jug from the 1990s. All the furniture is either destroyed or half broken in every single room including the desk, bed, Kitchen draws Bathroom shower and sinks. Every single room has some type of issue ranging from horrible to... oh my god... is that black mold growing on the roof in the bathroom??? Not to mention the wifi here is absolutely horrendous. I've asked many.. Many times at reception if they could speed my internet up because the only Amenity avalible to me is my own laptop and maybe using the wireless. Latency ranging from 120-475ms even though you're within 20 meters of the Wireless router the internet speed is so bad... It makes Dial up look good. At least dial was reliable... The wifi here?? Absolutely not. For 100 dollars per night this place is honestly one of the worst places to stay in the north shore for such a small price. Then again... It's also heading in the right direction being a cheap piece of crap hotel if that is their goal. Even the staff who work there say this is a crap hotel and everything about it is dogshlt. Not a good sign when even the staff admit the place sucks.... This place use to be amazing and now it's run down... left unfixed. It's like the place needs 10 grand dumped into it for revitalization but the owners simply don't give a F.

Convenient

Reviewed By DRandMS

I selected this property as it was convenient to Milford and family in Auckland. Reception staff were very friendly, the room and amenities were excellent. Perfect location. If you are visiting people in North Shore hospital, it's right across the road. But if, like me, you just need to be close to Milford or Takapuna, it's a good central location.
