Restful Stopover
Reviewed By Kiwito_69After 9 days of sailing and exploring Flores , this spot ticketed the boxes. It was also nice to have western dishes on the menu. Recommend the Club sandwich but not the pizza. Pool was clean and with the right balance of chemicals and a great spot to pass the day and evening with a good book. At this time of the year , evening rain and lightning added to my enjoyment. Staff go about their work professionally for this part of the world, particularly House Keeping. Top marks. Reception staff were hard to deal with , I guest because of the language barrier however simple requests become overwhelming like setting my account. Transfer between airport and hotel are free and there are ATMs located on the grounds. Some points to note : turn left and you will find a shop that sells Bintang (yep I like a beer but not at hotel 70k++, walk further (about 1km max) and you have access to phone shops , fruit shops and some very interesting local products. The town centre (right from the hotel) is 15min by bike or car an for me not all that interesting. As this stay was to rest up for the next leg , this hotel ticked the boxes. Be warned: scooter rental is arranged by the hotel though a 3rd party but they are available on hotel grounds. Rental is 100k per day. The Manager was prepared to hire me a scooter that had bald tires. When I said this was unacceptable , it was take it or leave it. Safety not being high for her on this occasion and I’ve been riding for over 2 months in Indonesia. Equally the hotel suggested Gojek , however they don’t operate this far from town and instead flagged down a passing bike - not a Gojek. At this price point more access to the town should be available or I didn’t asked the right questions. Overall I had a good stay with a nice view from my room and pool , with the added bonus of good meals and breakfast, Priced at the high end.

Reviewed By Cathy AI can't find other word to describe about this resort. I super enjoy my stayed there. Nice n clean room, super friendly staffs, delicious foods, and the beach is soooo beautiful. Everywhere you look around, you will see always n only beautiful scenes those refresh your eyes n mind. I really enjoy staying there, having some quite time walking on the beach in the morning and during sunset. Love the place a lot. I will for sure be back again there on my next visit to Maumere. Until next time!

The Budi Sun Resort is a family business resort, conducted by the owner Netty. Since 2013 the Sun Budi is open for guests. We have rooms at a high level, equipped with all the niceties for your vacation. The international restaurant offers a wide selection of food and beverages. A few meters away from the bungalows you find our natural beach that changes its appearance depending on the season. Beach chairs make for a relaxing day at the beach. We relax and rest is announced, we will organize your wishes for you. Budi Sun has an extensive leisure program, this includes not only diving and snorkeling, we also arrange jungle tours, visiting the hot springs or a climb to the active volcano Egon. Cultural events are just as much leisure facilities such as visiting social projects of our Netty or sightseeing in and to Maumere.

They were fully booked so we unfortunately could not stay there but the staff was amazingly nice and helpful and found us another great hotel down the street. Thanks again!!!

Quiet stay out of the center
Reviewed By isabellegruberWe stayed at Blue Ocean Cottages for one night before leaving Maumere. It's not far from the airport and was therefore conveniently located for us. The rooms were clean and the cottages nicely arranged around a small garden. We didn't explore the surrounding area much. The food was okay. The staff didn't speak much English but were helpful and with the help of some translations, communication worked fine.

Reviewed By BaliCarolI stayed here 5 years ago in a small bungalow and this time i stayed in one of the beach bungalows. There is not much of a choice in Maumere and I highly recommend this lovely location. Staff very helpful food is great. The place including the beach is cleaned daily.

Sunset Ccottages is a traditional guest house which built from bamboos, coconut wood, and grass for its roof, since 5 years ago. Its eco-friendly will let you enjoy your holiday and away of your busy time at home. At this place, you will be close to nature because the bungalows are located in a calm and quiet beach where you just hear the singing birds and wave’s sound.This bungalow are managed by the local friendly couple who are Hendrik and Erny. They understood well to serve with the best hospitality. This couple and all their staffs are very helpfull, just let them know if you need the information or something else about your trip.

Bring your own mosquito repellent and also recommended the mosquito spiral cause yes there is a lot of insects of all kinds. I got bitten by i dont know what kind of animal in the night in the bed under the mosquito net ( not bedbugs ) and still have those bites in my armpit. So if you are scared of crawlies- this is not your place. If he would cut down some trees and let moore sun in - the problem would be less. Very very nice and friendly owner family, helpful and good solid people. We slept with all doors and windows open every night so safe as well. The best is of course the food, the chef puts all his love and care into the wonderful dishes. Even the aestethics of the dishes is 5 star. Good job, keep up the wonderful job !

This homestay / hotel is located right at the sea shore just outside Maumere town. We had to construct a seawall due to beach erosion. However most of the year the sea is quite and good for a swim - there is also some coral reef, although for very good snorkeling you'll have to visit the islands nearby. The host, Ibu Susi, definitely helps you how to visit some interesting places and if you like join a meeting or other activity on waste management with students, communities, or government officials. It's just a good place to stay. It is very near the airport so before early flights, you still enjoy our nice breakfast. We can organise your checking in (on request) so you can wait till you see the plane actually landing, than go. The place is a bit near the main road to Larantuka, so at day-time there is a bit of traffic noise. Night time is calm though.
A fantastic place to stay, Suzy is amazing and doing brilliant work for the community.

She has initiated projects such a; cleaning the beach and town of plastic and working with special people in the community to turn this rubbish into useful and beautiful objects. A fun place to stay and a great community to support.
