Spacious rooms and good restaurant
Reviewed By NigelG407Stayed at this hotel as it was walking distance to the location of my meetings, and was chosen by my hosts. Large rooms with the option of opening the window or using the air conditioning. Sofa in all rooms. Bed was very comfortable, and bathroom had a shower in good working order. Excellent WiFi connectivity. Restaurant is in two parts - a coffee shop and more formal but decor is nice in each. Great value for money. Not much English spoken here but adequate to get by.

The atmosphere of comfort, coziness and hospitality guarantee our guests the unforgettable time. The hotel is famous for its restaurant - one of the best in Mariupol. There is also an open-air restaurant for the summertime and a billiard room. Here everyone will feel himself as cozy and comfortable as at home.
Recieved bug bites and room smelled awful
Reviewed By vacationlover06Mariupol in general doesnt smell very good, but the room we were in smelled awful. It had dated decor. The ceiling was low because we were on the top floor. And to top it off, I got big bites all over my body. We only stayed here a week, and it's because there was a conference in town so every other hotel was booked.

«Спартак» - один из самых больших и комфортабельных отелей города Мариуполя, расположенный на углу Харлампиевской и Георгиевской улиц. Здание гостиницы, увенчанное куполом, было построено по проекту главного архитектора города Виктора Нильсена в конце XIX века (приблизительная дата – 1884 год). Лет 40 назад к гостинице была сделана пристройка. Для этого пришлось убрать остатки сгоревшего в войну почтового отделения, которое размещалось с послереволюционных лет в доме, принадлежавшем Эммануилу Спиридоновичу де Полоне – судовладельцу и консульскому агенту сразу двух государств: Италии и Австро-Венгрии. Для выполнения своих консульских обязанностей г-ну де Полоне никуда ходить или ездить не приходилось: посетителей и просителей он принимал в собственном доме. Если бы кто-нибудь вздумал отметить мемориальными досками пребывание в этом здании знаменитых постояльцев, то, пожалуй, наружных стен не хватило бы. Здесь находили приют во время еще довоенных гастролей скрипачи Давид Ойстрах и Михаил Эрденко, известные в свое время на всю страну певцы Вадим Козин, Георгий Виноградов, Клавдия Шульженко и Леонид Утесов со своей обожаемой дочерью Эдит. В «Спартаке» ночевали артисты театра и кино Борис Андреев, Марк Бернес, Иван Миколайчук, Николай Крючков, Раиса Недашковская, Виталий Полицеймако. Даже сама Фаина Раневская отдыхала в одном из номеров после встреч с мариупольской публикой. Hotel Spartak has Old Style Character
Reviewed By Glen WThis is a very good old style hotel with comfortable rooms and good service. The rooms appear to have been renovated with comfortable beds, a nice refrigerator, plenty of closet space, bathroom is sufficient, and the wifi connection was very good. I was able to get CNN and BBC on my computer with good connection and access to other electronic media was good. The breakfast buffet was ample with good selection of meats, cheese, apple strudel, omelet and bread. There was no problem. The air conditioner worked well in the room. I was say this was good value for money. It is located near the center area with the fountains in the square. There are some good restaurants nearby as well.

Lacking in service and business sense
Reviewed By FFTR81Remember these points are based on the fact we were there as guests in a hotel with less than 10 people staying there and was not busy I assure you. Pros: - Food is excellent with terrific breakfast and dinner options. - Beautiful new building. - Nice big washrooms with hot water. - Inexpensive if you know how to haggle. Cons: - Waiting staff is extremely slow. You will be fortunate to get even the opportunity to get a second round of drinks and the first will take a minimum 25-50 minutes to arrive. - Internet was off for three days. After everyday hearing "Tonight it will be fixed" "Tomorrow for sure" Today we promise" we said "Have the internet running by tomorrow or we are leaving" and low and behold-internet! They said it was down because someone stole the cable supplying it which, though makes sense, does not mean they shouldn't be prepared for it. - New towels and a new bottle of water is all the house cleaning you will get. After being there for 2 weeks my bed was turned down maybe 2 times-gross. - The area is in a depressed economy but if you are a foreigner get ready for "price updates" on the menu and hold your breath for laundry services(Over $20 for a little bag of clothes). - There are a few desperate animals that will come to say hi and grab a scrap on the patio which is kind of nice until you get to watch the staff hurl them over the 8ft perimeter wall-classy. - AC in every room but they disabled it or its busted. In short, I love this city but was not a fan of this hotel and next time will have a look somewhere else to stay.
