Reviewed By PaulaC6251After deferring our trip due to covid, we finally got to Abisko. 2 years after first booking it. We had a chalet which was clean, comfy beds, well appointed and spacious, loved the drying room for wet clothes. (other family members) stayed in the hotel-room was great, too. Arrived to snowfall - Brilliant! Upon arrival we ate sandwiches and fika in the reception area. Wonderful. Went for a trek around the canyon then back for a 3 course meal - the restaurant was beautifully laid out with candles and the food and service worthy of a quality restaurant. We trekked to the ski lift and our guide was so helpful and informative. Sky station was brilliant also, as the Aurora came out. We laid on reindeer skins in the snow to watch them. Had a trek around the mountain too, but was cut short as our guide noticed lynx tracks and suggested we return to base as it was mating season so she didn’t want the lynx disturbed. Breakfast the next day was so full of variety. We only stayed 1 night as we headed off the the ice hotel, but Abisko whilst I’m sure was full, didn’t seem too crowded with people, it was relaxed and everything ran so smoothly. Would return in a heartbeat, everything was perfect.

Comfortable bed with several different cushions. The safebox didn't work and the was no hand soap, only shampoo instead. Great breakfast with a view and a lot of choice. Sadly, the employee apparently responsible for the breakfast was extremely rude towards other colleagues in front of the guests which made them visibly stressed. I'd rather have a bit worse breakfast but with more polite staff. The spa was quite small but the price even smaller so it still offered good value for money. Overall we enjoyed our stay, although there's room for improvement.

It's a nice and clean camping with very good facilities, for ladies and gents separated showers, toilets and sauna. The wifi around the reception was okay, but on our camperplace we had only sometimes internet. We also had diner in the restaurant, not much choice, but what we ordered was very good. The service was excellent. We ordered 2 glasses of pinot grigio wine, € 13,00 each. But, that's a normal price in a Scandinavian restaurant. For my husband a main and a desert. For me a starter and a desert. My husband had : oxe and dragon with several grilled vegetables, very good, and 2 boles of vanilla ice cream with wild berries, also good. For me: slices of salmon with wasabi mayo and salad, excellent, merenque with lemon-cream and wild berries, very tastefull. At last a cup of coffee with a truffle. We had a wonderfull diner.

On all the days , we had a very good afternoon "fika" (included) with do-it-yourself crispy waffles, pepparkakor and additional "lussekatter " during Lucia Day. The room they gave us upon check-in was exactly as we requested in advance, near reception and first floor. Of course we asked for the same room the next time around. The room was fresh and had extra pillows. The hotel had free coffee and tea 24/7 so we did not miss the lacking tea kettle in the room. It was winter so we did not miss a fridge as well, as we had our car serving as fridge. The included dinners every night were all very good.This is a hotel where you can forget things in the room and feel secure. We forgot a sweater but they kept it for us until our return trip. We had a big miss in parking which costed us almost as much as one hotel night. Be careful to read all signs on the streets in the vicinity of the hotel. They have special rules on odd and even nights.

Not for family’s if you want to sleep
Reviewed By evelinabj0215The Hotell was full of teams competing in different sports. Which made the breakfast messy, also hard to sleep because of many high and disturbing noises in the rooms next to us. The kids had a hard time to go to sleep. The sounds did not stop until after 23.30.

We organise Snowmobile trip through forests and across frozen lakes to The Ice Hotel. We also go looking for The Northern Lights on Snowmobile and Dog Sled. While at Camp Alta you can also enjoy X-country skiing, ice fishing, our Ice bath hole, sauna's, Our large Sami Wooden Teppee Firehut!! Snowmobile tour in beautiful surroundings
Reviewed By Hilde SWe ordered snowmobile tour online for Camp Alta. We stayed at Camp Ripan, but we were picked up and had free transport to Camp Alta. We were a party of four and had 2 snowmobiles for a day. Cassie was our wonderful guide. We drove around on a nearby frozen lake, through a forrest, and to the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. We had 3 hours at the Icehotel on our own, which was amazing. Our boys (both 14 years old also loved this tour, it was the highlight of everything, they said when we came home) What a beautiful landscape and surroundings. So idyllic. Maybe next time we come to Kiruna we’ll stay at Camp Alta, it look so cosy there. Thank you so much for making this day magical for us!
