Reviewed By Lotika VStayed here with family (3rooms) for 2 nights. This is a phenomenal property. We got the updated rooms with lake facing balcony, gorgeous rooms. Service is great. Both breakfast and dinner was delicious and almost felt like fine dining. The staff is helpful and courteous We would definitely visit this hotel again

Small and fine Guests may stay in one of your 12 rooms and can decide between view onto the lake or to the mountains - whatever you choose, you will not regret it. Cupboards and chairs are eco-furniture made of solid Swiss stone pine wood a local joiner manufactures for our hotel. Since the extensive refurbishment in 2014 all rooms have been equipped with box spring beds, high-end bathrooms as well as WiFi, TV, radio and telephone. The large wooden balconies and the comfortable small pub garden on the market square offer opportunies for a big breakfast, as does the breakfast room itself, where you may start your day in a most enjoyable way.
Extremely disappointing stay. Terrible breakfast

The only redeeming feature of this Hotel was the balcony of our room no 32 which gave a beautiful view of the Marktplatz the Kirche and part of the lake. Let me now tell you the problems : 1 The hotel is run in a very casual manner. They work at their own leisurely Hours. 2. It is more like an Airbnb. Dial the code , take your plastic key and do self check in. 3. Shower water was not draining from the bathroom. Sandra helped us by giving key of another room to take showers. Problem solved. 4. Towels were terrible. While wiping the body they left a sticky layer which was probably detergent left in the towels after laundry. After that I didn’t use the towel and waited till I got dry. Terrible. 5. The day we arrived the restaurant was closed and there was a paper notice stuck on the entrance door ‘ we are resting today’. There was no regret for the inconvenience caused. 6. The breakfast was as bad as it could be. Evening thing taken out from refrigerator and containers and placed for eating. There was only one lady doing everything who was visibly stressed. Her name is Tanla( Danny). We were the first to arrive for breakfast and were told .. there are no eggs. I told Danny you are going to get a bad review. She immediately ran out and brought a tray of eggs within 5 minutes. Danny was then kind to serve us fried eggs. But apart from that the breakfast was terrible. Bad coffee, limited range of items which didn’t look fresh. 7. There is no electric kettle to make tea or coffee in the room which is pretty basic now a days. We could not enjoy our morning tea in the beautiful balcony thanks to the missing kettle. The owner is apparently busy elsewhere and milking this property by spending very little on running this Hotel and restaurant. The decor the flowers on the table the leaves and branches in the restaurant are all cheap plastic. The scores of horns on the walls are also cheap Chinese material. We really felt cheated. We had paid 200 euros for one night but its true value was less than 40 euros a night. Also have a look at the Restsurant menu. Fortunately, we didn’t eat there as they were "resting". The restaurant prices are double of Heritage hôtel where we had an amazing dinner. So if you are planning to come to Hallstatt please stay away from this hotel.

It was definitely worth it for the views alone, but the rest of the space was clean, modern and had all the essentials. Sandra especially made us feel very welcome and was so accomodating, we wish we could have stayed longer in this fairytale town.

The room was clean ,tidy with a very comfortable bed and we were almost along in the building,the price was very reasonable.we had also all to have tea party on the balcony. The breakfast was fantastic in a very old and nicely furnished hotel like in museum. The restaurant on the terrace has an amassing view and very quick service and of course tasty kitchen. I will recommend this place to all my friends.

Reviewed By suzanne6004A lovely place to stay for an evening in Hallstatt. The place was renovated just before the pandemic so is in fantastic condition. We had a room at the back on first level and it was very lovely. Beautiful timber finishes. Heating was great and slept really well. Bathroom facilities are very modern and well finished with a walk in shower. Great place to sit and have a drink/coffee and watch the visitors in the Markplatz. Plenty of locals love to pop in and have a drink which shows it is a relaxed place to be. Tom welcomed us into his home and happy to sit and chat and recommend things to see and do. Served a nice breakfast - meats, cheeses, bread, boiled eggs, tea, coffee, OJ and water from the fountain. Just a note that there is no vehicle access into the town and you will need to leave your car in the carparks outside but the shuttle taxi runs constantly so no need to worry and it is only a 3-5 minutes drive to your hotel. A lovely place to stay and at the moment is still very quiet so perfect time to be there!

We booked the room with the lake view the view from the balcony of the lake was amazing. Breakfast was really good and fresh. One morning we had to check out early and the staff prepared for us a lovely packed breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. We really liked this place.

quiet & cozy room
Reviewed By Edward CWe stayed at the Gasthof Bergfried at the end of September. Our room was on the 2nd floor, overlooking the funicular. It was very quiet at night, and the room was cute and cozy. The room had no A/C, no facial tissues, no coffee, tea or cups (although there was a hot water kettle). The bed was comfortable. There was a small table with chairs, and a TV in the room. We could walk everywhere, and it was about a 10 minute walk from the ferry. It was very comfortable for a 1 night stay. The front desk is only open from 9am-7pm.
