Reviewed By 503garykOur experience at the Ibis Hotel in Mons was our worst experience the entire time in Belgium. The man at the counter was rude, unhelpful and angry when we asked for help. We booked 3 rooms and they only had two of them available. So when we asked about the missing room the man working at the desk was completely rude and unhelpful.

Disappointing
Reviewed By MinchinhamptonCommonTravelling with my adult son, I booked via hotels.com and selected a twin bedded junior suite but was given a double. After contacting reception to ask for a second quilt so we could separate the beds, was told this wasn’t possible as no staff (I assume housekeeping). It took over an hour from my call to arrange a twin room. (The reception staff were apologetic blaming being very busy) I would expect a hotel of this standing to deal with with such an issue as a matter of priority. (We had a similar issue at another hotel during our trip that was resolved in minutes with an appropriate reduction in room rate!). Although we enjoyed the food, I had to ask a second time for the ordered wine Asked for bill to sign but gave up after 10-15 minutes; no staff available to ask when leaving. (See below) The bill did not include dinner. When I pointed this out, I was presented with a picture of me and an accusory “Is that you? Why didn’t you give your room number?” Despite having to be moved to a lower grade room, I was still charged the junior suite rate. The attitude of the receptionist did not incline me to complain as I already felt he consider that the person in the photo (me) was a criminal trying to get a free dinner, even though it was me that pointed out that the bill didn’t include dinner. I won't stay here again

Reviewed By mrstraveller1Didn’t eat or utilise any facilities at this hotel but my stay was a positive one & it did a good job for the money. The location is ideal, very central, & close to the train station. Check-in was friendly & efficient & the hotel has a pleasing, modern design. My room was on a high floor, minimalist in decor, & had a big picture window which brought in lots of natural light, no views to speak of, it’s not a pretty city, but it gave a fresh, airy feel. Bathrooms are small & toiletries scant & basic.

Convenient location for travel
Reviewed By jgibso852270We have used this hotel for many years while travelling by car to and from the UK to Italy. It is very conveniently located and the staff are really nice and friendly. We didn't bring a dog this time, but it is fantastic for dogs, if you get a room on floor 0 there are patio doors opening directly into the garden. So you don't need to bring a nervous dog through the hotel reception if you don't want to. There is a huge amount of car park space even if you arrive late and the rooms are comfortable and quiet. Breakfast starts from 0630 even on Sunday, again great if you need to leave early. It's been refurbished since our last visit as well. We had a nice meal in the restaurant and breakfast was very nice as well. Also you can eat outside as there is a spacious terrace.

Hotel stay during battlefield tour
Reviewed By Jemima PWe stayed at this hotel during a Leger battlefield tour. The hotel was very bright and modern. The rooms were spacious and clean with large comfortable beds and more than enough sockets. If we needed extra coffee etc the girls in reception were happy to oblige. Breakfast was excellent with a big choice of both hot and cold food. I can't think of anything else that they could have provided. We used the bar on a couple of evenings. However on one evening the girl pulled a face and stomped off when I told her I didn't have cash so she had to go to reception so I could pay by card. But other than that the staff were all friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay again and would recommend.

Reviewed By Emma Lynn TWe stayed with the Flair voucher for 1 night. The lady at the desk was really sweet and helpfull. It could be a better stay because we especially came for the sauna/jacuzzi but we could only use the jacuzzi because the group of boys before us made a mess and the electronics of the sauna were down. We had a drink in the bar wich was nice. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. BUT there was this aweful buzzing sound the whole night (like a running motor or something). I went crazy… For us the breakfast was amazing! A lot of choices, healthy options and good food. Parking spaces available in front of the hotel. In our opinion it is a good place to stay 1 night.

Reviewed By Journey417071Hotel Lido isn’t a 4 star anymore. It’s clean and fairly modern. But when the kitchenette at the room is poorly equipped for preparing food at night you don’t get what you order for. The breakfast is ok, but when it’s empty for egg and bacon and the answer is “it’s empty “ you don’t feel well taken care of. Where it’s located is it’s asset. But next time I will stay at Hotel Van Der Valk, which is modern.

Reviewed By garypT1719SUThis is defiantly not 4 star! the rooms are all very nice, and the reception staff are lovely. I stayed there for 20 days on a business trip and they have only one restaurant that you have to book the day before along with the people staying in the 700 villas & chalet's on the lake, as we did not know exactly what time we would return each day we had no chance as they make no concession for hotel residence. Also breakfast starts at 7am and as we had to leave the hotel every day at 7am to get to our work site which was 30 mins away the woman running the breakfast room would not let us have breakfast early or take food with us. Me and my colleague had paid for 40 breakfasts in advance but that made no difference! At the weekends we sore her turn people away if they came to breakfast one minute late and the room was full. As this hotel is in the middle of no ware not getting into the restraint is a big problem especially on a Monday and Tuesday as all other restaurant in villages that are at least 20 mins drive away are closed because they open on Saturdays & Sundays. I waited 12 days to have the fridge in my room replaced because it didn't work so I couldn't use that for food! just to finish, this joke of a hotel, you cant use the bar which is in the restraint if you don't have a table. Although the rooms are nice and the lake area is beautiful the view from the rooms that look toward the lake are of a very large and noisy building site as they are still developing. Plus the so called hotel has no laundry service. We will never use this hotel again!!!! And the woman running the breakfast room needs a lesson in customer service as she is very rude and bullies the young girls that work in the breakfast room.

Not impressed with the room or service
Reviewed By lynnederby01I arrived and phoned to book a shuttle to be told it only ran at certain times so instead of the 5 euros I had to pay 20 in a. taxi even though 5 mins away. Reception was ok and thought maybe its a cultural thing. Went to my room and not impressed (as per the photos). The stains on the carpet was like that all over the room, the crack in the wall was bad and you can't see the full picture of the dust at the back of the TV and the reason I was looking was the tv didn't have a remote! Then went to have a wash and no soap, you had to use the shower gel that was in the shower and virtually empty. Went down for some thing to eat and the menu in French and that's fine but the bar man was not impressed to find it in English as I couldn't get my phone to work to look myself. Then I couldn't find anything to eat from the smallest menu ever and started saying 'what about spaghetti bolognese' can't you eat that?! I ended up finding cheese and bread on the dessert menu. Again I asked what does it come with as stated 'platter of cheese" he replied bread of course! so for 12 euros I received the tiniest pieces of cheese and the smallest bread roll I have ever seen. There was no where else I could of got food and went to bed hungry. Not once did they try and help me find something I could of eaten

Noisy and basic
Reviewed By bitterlemonjuiceBasic hotel. Good points - clean and comfortable enough for 1 nt. Bad points - towels so small you need 2 to even dry yourself after a shower! I use bigger hand towels at home! Really noisy all through the night. I could hear the person in the next room zipping up their bag! Should have known when they give you ear plugs for free in the room. Taxi drivers try to stitch you up at the airport for €15 instead of €10. They backed down quickly when questioned. On the return the guy crammed 3 people in and charged us all €10 when the jorlurney is max 5 mins. All in all I would pay the extra and stay in a better quality hotel next time. It was for a short stopover so thought I would take the chance.
