We at Dornhugel Guestfarm aim to provide a unique experience of typical Namibian farmlife in a familial atmosphere and high class hospitaliy to our guests - whether you want to spend a day working with our farm workers, experience a farm drive or just relax by the pool with your kids enjoying the playground. The farm is situated in the north of Namibia close to the city of Grootfontein and next to the D2844. You will pass through it on your way to the untouched bushmanland and the Caprivi region. Home from home

Rarely have I stayed somewhere where I instantly felt so at home. Herman, our host, had a lot to do with that. So genial and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable and full of character. The garden is a lush little oasis. Dinner was delicious. Simple, local, fresh ingredients put together with care and skill to create something quite special. Breakfast was equally good. As well as being a wonderful host, Herman is such an interesting and accomplished person. Very interesting to spend an evening chatting to him. His enthusiasm for life is quite infectious. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again if I ever happen to be in the area. In fact, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Fiume Bush Camp

Truly wonderful insight into Bushmen life

Reviewed By fim2013

I visited Fiume towards the end of my trip to mostly north eastern Namibia. Although I’ve visited the country several times in recent years this was the first significant amount of time I’d spent with the indigenous people. It was a very interesting experience. I learned lots about the Sān Peoples, the Ju/Hansi Bushmen, and I came away both amazed and impressed at their light footprint on earth and somewhat humbled by what I now see as my own much heavier footprint. Their knowledge and skill at survival in the bush is very impressive. Of all the places I’ve visited in Namibia this is the one that I will remember forever.

Seidarap Guesthouse

Welcoming Guesthouse, but...

Reviewed By Keren L

The only thing wrong with this place is its lack of air condition in the rooms. We were there at the height of hot season in October and were looking forward to cooling off at night. Very disappointing to find a very hot room and the ceiling fan hardly made a difference as the heat stayed put inside even with windows open. Then at 3:30 the rooster crowed and we woke up. Why would a guesthouse have a rooster in the first place? Most guests are not used to crowing roosters as maybe the owners are. Also, we heard of a fellow guest being bitten by the owner's dog. So those were the negatives: the positives are the house and property feels like a museum and it is interesting to see what once was. The pool and the area around is was a nice touch. The best part, however, was the friendly hospitality by Stefan and his wife and the excellent dinner and breakfast they provided. If it weren't for the lack of AC and the rooster, I would recommend this place.

Pondoki Rest Camp

A little oasis between Etosha and Caprivi Strip

Reviewed By SCM-Cornwall

We spent two nights at Pondoki Rest Camp. The camp site is beautifully grassed with a large shelter with small table and chairs. Each site is spacious with trees for shade and has its only toilet and shower. The restaurant and bar area is relaxing with a full varied menu at good prices. There is free wifi. Magda, the owner, is very helpful and will advise on where to find certain shops and services. We also arranged to get our laundry done as well. Would definitely recommend this place for a stop over for a night or two.

Roy's Rest Camp

Fun, Peaceful, Querky little guest house

Reviewed By TIGGERALA

For anyone going to or coming from the Caprivi Strip, this is one place that you have to stop and enjoy. Even if it is for the simple lunch (we called ahead) or for staying at their unusual and fun decorated site and rooms. Each room is unique, chairs, beds, split double doors, sunken bathroom, you name it, it is artsy and fun. There is a large extremely strong WIFI area set up, gym area for the kids, camping sites, a pool with a bathtub spilling water into the pool, great staff, and calm and quiet hide to watch the animals. The owner and staff were fabulous - and especially thankful for guests especially during this pandemic period. Their dinner was "family style" and everything we ate was delicious. A special treat, at sunset, the Bush Babies came out to feed at the trees, amazing creatures. In addition, from this location, it is an easy drive to visit the Ju/'Hoansi San Living Museum and community. In all, we wished we could have stayed longer and when we return to Namibia, even if we are not on our way to the Caprivi, we will stop by for a few days and relax!

Greenhill Chalets

Average accom but gracious hosts

Reviewed By IshanaV

Greenhill chalets in Grootfontein- the rooms are very basic and small. Some of the toilets need a bit of a higher grade cleaning for stains and a few toilet seats require replacement. Having said that our hosts were most gracious and went out of their way to make us comfortable. They allowed us use of the back braai area where we set up our gazebo and prepared our food. As many of us are vegetarian the owner, Bassie went into town and got soya products for us. We really appreciated the effort made!
