Reviewed By LoumxPre-booking email responses were within hours and the transfers we booked via the hotel/Gili Getaway went like clockwork. We had booked a beach front Kecil and on arrival were shown that as well as the one bedroom villa which we could take as a free upgrade. We took the latter, though both were amazing with their own different "personalities", key distiction being that the villas are incredibly private, though the beachfront rooms benefit from the sea breeze. The villas have separate entrances for guests (into the decking/pool area) and for staff (to the rear of the dining/kitchen area). The whole hotel is impeccably clean and gardens tended. We didnt have any issues with mozzies and found three types of lizard (one being the geckos), which are probably contributing to keeping the mosquitoes down!! The breakfasts were lovely, the bread being freshly baked and the coffee was some of the best I have tasted. Plenty of choice including vegetarian and vegan options. It was "out of season" when we were there, with plenty of chairs around the pool and options to sit in the shade on benches and wicker "basket" snuggle chairs facing the ocean. It would be impossible to become dehydrated at Ko Ko Mo - staff bring you a glass of water when you arrive at the main pool, when you come back from a trip and, in our case, when returning from a pre-breakfast snorkel off the jetty (which was pretty good!) We borrowed kayaks a couple of times and collected plastic from the ocean - unfortunately we made little difference but what we did collect was whisked away by the staff for proper disposal (they already clean the beach in front of the hotel). The Ko Ko Mo site of the island doesnt suffer too badly compared with the other side. The local people are naturally friendly and, as there are no stalls etc catering to tourists, there is absolutely no "pestering", which you might find on busier islands. Adults and children follow the path which runs through the hotel to attend school and/or mosque and invariably greeted us with a smile and a hello. There is very little to "do" on Gili Gede, though I imagine that will change. There are paths to follow between the villages, though it is easy to get lost (take GPS!) and some are not reasonably passable when the tide is high so difficult to find any of the other restaurants listed on TA. The dinner menu at the hotel is extensive and the food outstanding, with prices similar to what I would pay in the UK for a good value meal out. We took a (very good value) boat out to Gili Layar on a couple of occasions, which was difficult as I am not a confident snorkeller - for me it was almost as good off the jetty or we found a good reef beyond the village to the right and out a fair way from the rocks (it is shallow so you can walk most of it) I could say more (all positive) but this is getting rather long! Happy to answer any questions. All in all a very relaxing holiday and probably the best service/staff I have ever experienced.

We offer tranquillity, peace and intimacy. Our stylish wooden bungalows, treetop sitting platforms and restaurant offer scarlet sunset - and sweeping views over the deep blue sea. The sea in front of our location has colourful coral gardens within swimming distance, regular turtle sightings and the occasional pod of dolphins and dugongs. Our resort is powered with solar and wind energy and, where possible, we have tried to use recycled materials and existing natural resources whilst maintaining high standards of comfort.

Reviewed By Michaela RThis was the most relaxing and pleasurable holiday in the best hotel on Gili Gede. We spent two weeks here. The deluxe bungalow was AMAZING. We had a magnificent view of the bay and reef, as well as Mt Agung in the distance. The bungalows are equipped with everything you need plus extra living space. The bathroom is so charming, with the showerhead made from a watering can! We loved that it was an eco friendly, and the main reason we first chose this place. What we didn't expect was the magnificent experience that came with it. The staff are all local to the island and nothing is too much trouble. We were taken for boat rides, you can grab the canoes and paddle and explore the island. We attended a local wedding and also got to do a night snorkel! We felt very included in the community from the moment we arrived. Everywhere we went we were greeted with a smile. The menu in the restaurant is varied and absolutely delicious. We never got sick of dining here for breakfast, lunch and dinner, not to mention the great view from each seat in the restaurant! We cannot wait to return.

Enjoy magnificent snorkelling in front of the hotel + island hopping as well as scuba diving Relax in our nicely decorated lumbung bedrooms with Air Conditionning and taste in our restaurant our home made food with bread cooked every day or just have a nice cocktail facing the beach

Reviewed By 740sabimWe had 3 nights here. Marie and Bernard were the most fabulous hosts. They made us feel so very welcome. Firstly the bungalows are fantastic. Lovely comfortable bed with mosquito nets. An open air bathroom but I never saw one creature inside. Toiletries are provided and our place was cleaned once in the morning and in the evening the boys went in to tidy up, empty bins and straightened the bed. There is a lovely sitting area on the terrace with comfortable sofa and table. All bungalows face the sea, we didn't book a seaview room but could still see it. All very eco friendly, your water bottles are refilled for free as many times as you wish. Marie has her own project growing coral just a few meters from the shoreline which she was very happy come snorkelling to show us. I was very impressed. Snorkelling is very good from the beach. Breakfast was great with your own loaf of fresh bread served warm and a choice of eggs, pancakes, home made jam to die for etc, etc. As the sun starts to set the communal lounge/restaurant becomes the focal point. It's almost like you have been invited to Marie and Bernard's own home to a dinner party. Some people were not even staying at the resort but would come every night for chat, cocktails, great chilled out dinner music and dining. They have some fantastic wines and champagne and cocktails as well as the Bintang and amazing juices. The food was amazing, all homemade, we absolutely loved it here. Marie arranged for our boat on departure day and her and her husband came out to wave us off personally. Truly amazing stay. They do so well with their beach clean ups, 3 times a day. It is remote so ensure that you bring everything you will need, personal hygiene products etc. I would definitely recommend this place for a wonderful relaxing time with superb hosts.

Reviewed By gwendolaI spent a very good time at this lodge, it's nice to disconnect and be in the middle of Nature on a small island. the bungalows are a mixture of roots and cozy which gives a real charm to this place, pleasant swimming pool, comfortable restaurant, and a very varied Indonesian and French menu, a lot of cocktails finally nothing is missing. the staff and the owner ita very very nice and the boss Alain, an exceptional man, really top place and in addition everything was handmade great merit

Reviewed By Iris WWe had a great stay in Papaya Lodge! Lovely and quiet place, with a view on the beach. The rooms is basic, but comfy. Alan, the owner is a great host and will make sure you enjoy your time in Gili Gede. He arranged a fishing trip, a snorkeling trip and our transport to Lombok! Moreover, he ensured that we could just relax in Gili Gede. Food and beers were brought to our accommodation and Alan was always in for a good chat! Breakfast was very tasty! We will definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Pelangi bungalow located at front on the beach with sunrises view from rinjani mountain. We serve 4 rooms for stay with privat bathroom, the price is 175.000rp for one night. Also we organize extra activity, like snorkling and fishing trip. At our pleace have restaurant with menu indonesian food and small shop.

Reviewed By JudithvdS89Very good fish. We visite this place in 2015. Anton had every day fresh fish. Red snapper was great. You can do a snorkel trip with Anton. He is a good host. You have to visite him when you are at gili Gede.
