From the first direct contact with this boutique Riad, they could not have been more helpful. We had the family suite which worked really well for us and our 2 children, 8 and 9. The staff were brilliant and had clearly had a tough time during the pandemic but were now back in their happy element. I don't know everyone's names but to name 2, Fatima is a wealth of helpful knowledge and knows all there is to know about Essaouira and about the history of the Riad. The owner is a Swiss, Cornelia, with her husband Ibrahim and they have really made this a special place. Their olive oil is worth the trip alone... And a day by the pool at the Jardin fu Maroc their inland sister property is time very well spent. Thank you!

The coziest place ever ♥️

This is our first time at such a beautiful concept Villa and we’re so glad we picked it !!! It’s really conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood as its name indicates it. Walkin in will give u goosebumps ( in a positive way) and u ll feel the good energy. What we liked mostly is that this place carries a story and is a preserved family legacy. The current owners are young and smart peeps who truly value their heritage. I haven’t slept until 11am for a very long time but this place will make you relax so much you forget about time. This is my new fav place ♥️

A great family-friendly place!

We (couple with two children - 7yo son, 3yo daughter) had a lovely 3 nights at this Riad. The hosts were wonderful and made sure that our stay was just what we wanted. Delicious fresh breakfast each morning (always more than we could eat!), recommendations for delicious restaurants for dinner, and even assistance booking a cooking class (patisserie) for my husband and son. The family room is excellent, containing a small living room, a bathroom, a double room, and then a twin room above - so clever! The decor is fun and cheerful, with everything we needed.

Great Service and great location

We stayed 1 night and we had great service from check-in to check-out. The staff were very accommodating especially Loubna and Hasna at the front desk. The bellman Abdelilah was polite and patient. We had the buffet style breakfast at the hotel restaurant which had many local elements along with a few European touches. The hotel is located right across the beach which has a beautiful paved walk way to take a stroll either day or night. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel.

Fantastic cosy Riad!

We stayed at Zahra for five days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Riad is lovingly furnished, with a delightful central courtyard. Although the building isn't old, the decor is wonderfully evocative. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The proprietors are lovely and care about their guests. Even though they were busy during our stay, they took the time to talk and were attentive and helpful. The food is also fantastic; the breakfast was great, but I'd suggest eating at least once for lunch and dinner. The seafood platter was a feast!

A masterpiece of the Medina of Essaouira ... this old Caidal house is at the heart of this city loved by artists and adventurers. The panoramic outdoor swimming pool on the terrace offers a magnificent view of the medina and the ocean in the distance. The kitchen offers a subtle blend of French and Moroccan influences

Great place to stay in Essaouira.

Reviewed By highhousefarm

The hotel is really well situated as it’s the very first building you come to inside the old walled city or medina. The old town is quite compact and from the hotel, it’s only 5 mins to the very heart of the medina, and a further 6/7 minutes to the busy port - which is certainly worth visiting. The layout is that of a conventional Riad with a large colonnaded open courtyard and all rooms facing inward to the atrium. Breakfast is served in this courtyard. We had a lovely large room on the third floor - there is a lift. Above this there is a roof terrace with a bar and a pool. The pool is at one side of the roof so it doesn’t dominate the roof space. There is a bar downstairs but it’s all very dark wood, dark furniture and darkly lit - rather like a gentleman’s club of old. Although they called it a bar, it’s not really, and we found it rather unwelcoming. It seemed rarely frequented, at least during our stay. We thought the menu highly priced, and our guide confirmed that better value was to be had elsewhere, so we can not comment on the quality of the food. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. It is the largest hotel in the old town (about 35 rooms we would guess) so lacked the more intimate feel of our previous accommodation at Riad Kniza in Marrakech (see separate review). But overall it can’t be faulted and is a great place to stay in Essaouira.
